Description:

Welcome to Stormfront Ost’41 Commander, welcome in the hell of Barbarossa.

From the creators of Red Storm’44 and Storm in the West’44, Stormfront Ost’41 is the last installment in the Storm mods series, featuring divisions of the Nazi Germany, USSR and Finland during the fateful and bloody Summer of 1941.

Like the previous mods in the series, Stormfront Ost’41 (or SfO 41) is aimed at reconciling both gameplay and authenticism in a way were none is overshadowed by the other, providing fun and immersion at the same time.
However and contrary to Red Storm’44, SfO 41 will be a mini-mod with 10 divisions planned (in total so 5 on both sides) for the moment.

To find games, people to play with or just chatting, you can join our Discord here : https://discord.gg/zrPjb4RWtq.

What is changing in SfO 41 compared to Vanilla or Red Storm ? Here’s the list :

* HE damage, Fire damage, Bombs damage, Planes behavior, Damage levels, Armor criticals, Influence ratio between units… A lot of gameplay mechanisms are coming back from RS’44.

* New exclusive 3D models for the PzKpfw I B and the I-16 Type 24.

* Certain vehicles are using placeholder models and/or textures. They will be replaced with correct versions over time.

* Entirely modified Sound FX for weapons and engines.

* Authentic Soundtrack (same as RS’44 for the moment).

* Traits for Infantry AND Vehicles (it’s finally back since SitW days !) giving them various buffs or nerfs which represents specific units or aspect of those units. You can easily have any info about such unit by hovering you mouse over the Trait icon.

* The TNT charge of Sapeur type units is now a 1 time, manually fired weapon, meaning that you’ll have to use the "Fire on Position" order to fire it. The unit won’t use it automatically anymore.

* Certain Soviet Infantry units have access to a Rifle Grenade. To fire it, use the "Fire on Position" order.

* Off-maps have been modified so only one Battery is firing for one Off-map vehicle. That means that only 4 rounds will be fire for each volley. On the other hand, each battery fires for 3 min long, no matter the caliber. That also means that the smaller the caliber is, the higher the amount of shells fired will be.

* The Command system has been entirely reworked. It’s not featuring all the Orders yet but it’s already working. I’d suggest that you see the entire article of the Dev diary for a more in-depth explanation. You can find it on the mod’s Discord server : https://discord.com/channels/336395794162909185/911796410939228220/944587053264404623.

* Gaining Stars or Stripes works very differently on the German and Soviet sides now :
– Germans still benefit from the same system as it was in Red Storm’44, meaning only gaining Influence and Stress resilience with 1, 2 or 3 Stars.

– Soviets now ONLY gain Stars by KILLING enemy units (1 Star for 2 kills for most units. 1 Star for 3 kills for Big Tanks) and no Stars can be gained by using Leader or Commander units anymore. Furthermore, Infantry, Amored cars and Tanks are all gaining efficiency with the different Star levels.

° For Infantry, all of them are having -20% RoF, -20% Accuracy and +20% Dispersion at 0 Stars and will mitigate those nerfs with each Star gain, going to -10% Nerf at lvl 1, 0% nerf at lvl 2 and +20% Buff at lvl 3.

° For Armored cars and Tanks afflicted by the "Poorly Trained" Trait will also receive mitigating effects to their nerf : -10% nerf at lvl 1, 0% nerf at lvl 2 and +10% boost at lvl 3.

° In the case of Armored cars and Tanks not afflicted by the "Poorly Trained" Trait, they will receive boosts to their efficiency but only from 2 Stars (+10% Accuracy and -10% Dispersion) to 3 Stars (+20% Accuracy and -20% Dispersion).

Thank you very much for considering our mod and have fun with it !

Some Plane engines sounds are coming from the work of Automne & Villis sound mod for Steel Division : Normandy ’44. They’re used thanks to his generous agreement.
Mortar firing sounds are from the work of Ginda with his Sound mod for Steel Division : Normandy ’44. Thanks to him for allowing me to use them.
