Note: This mod is not being actively developed. I’ll fix any game breaking things like crashes if they come up, but I’m currently pursuing standalone game development. This doesn’t mean I won’t ever continue though, please ask first if you’re gonna fork or copy this mod.

Adds Hat Kid from A Hat in Time into the Constant!

Hat Kid is a young little adventurer, knitting powerful hats, and doing whatever she needs to in the quest to get home.

One Last Contract
Hat Kid always had her eye on home from the beginning. The huge adventure she’d just been on was more of a detour than anything to her, although it was quite necessary to make her way home. When a familiar friend presented an offer to accelerate that journey home, for just one last contract, she found the offer irresistible. Perhaps it was the strange ragtime music playing, or perhaps her reckless nature that lead her to ignore the fine print. Either way, the contract had been signed, beginning a second, much different adventure.

Hat Kid

* 120 Hunger
* 120 Sanity
* 150 Health

* Crafts all hats faster and 25% cheaper than other survivors (besides Thulecite Crown)
* Able to craft her own personal hats
* 200% as vulnerable to negative sanity auras and night sanity drain when the head slot is empty
* +30 Sanity after respawning (spawn with 90/120)
* Sanity increases/decreases 10% faster (like Willow)

Kid’s Hat


Your pride and joy.
* +2.53 sanity/min
* Cheap to craft
* Lasts 8 days

Sprint Hat


This hat looks ready to sprint!
* +30% movement speed
* +67% increased hunger drain while moving
* Lasts 6 days

Brewing Hat


Cook up mad concoctions!
* No passive benefits by default

Activate to begin brewing a Mad Concoction. Once ready, it can be thrown, dealing 100 damage in a small area, as well as dealing damage to structures and the environment.

Can be refueled using Slurtle Slime or Gunpowder.

Ice Hat


It’s so cold!
* 120 Winter Insulation (identical to a Winter Hat)

Activate to become a block of ice. After a brief period of invincibility, slam into the ground, dealing a small amount of damage to nearby enemies, and freezing them for the equivalent of 2 Ice Staff hits.

Can be refueled using Ice.

Dweller Mask


See the world through a Dweller’s eyes!
* No passive benefits by default

Activate to emit a bright green aura. While inside this aura, mortal damage will be redirected to your max health at a 4:1 ratio, and you gain Night Vision.

Players can be revived by deactivating the hat while a dead player is within it’s radius. This requires and consumes a bit of fuel.

Can be refueled using Nightmare Fuel.

Time Stop Hat


Death is inevitable. Your time is valuable.
* No passive benefits by default

Activate to slow nearby non-players to 50% speed for up to 15 seconds at a time.

Can be refueled using Nightmare Fuel.

Blue Umbrella


Diplomacy didn’t work, time for action.
While closed:
* 42.5 Damage
* 200 Uses
While open:
* 90% Rain Resistance
* 120 Overheat Resistance
* Lasts 6 Days

Other Recommended Mods

I recommend you run the following mods alongside Hat Kid, however none of them are required for the mod to function.

Additionally, Hat Kid is specifically compatible with Meme Language, however it is also not required.

Roadmap

I’m planning on putting more things in this mod over time. 1.0.0 was a fine release point in my opinion, however I’m still not done with it. Here’s the planned perks and features at the moment

  • Make Hat Kid craft all hats, besides her own, 25% cheaper than normal. Done! (1.1.0)
  • Refactor hat ability code to not be a rat’s nest. Done! (1.2.0)
  • Make the Blue Umbrella more unique
  • Hat skins to match current character skins
  • Custom health system, mimicking the 4 hp system from the source game, to shake up gameplay.
  • Add Pons and Badges.
  • Redo Time Stop Hat VFX
  • Better compatibility with PvP mode
  • Add Time Rifts and Time Pieces
  • Add a Rumbi Pet
  • Custom foods, possibly referencing Gears for Breakfast or Nyakuza Metro foods
  • Playable Bow Kid, maybe even Timmy

Includes extra assets, scrapped code and mechanics, as well as other things I use to develop this mod. This should come in handy, should I ever stop developing the mod, and it breaks. Keep in mind, it’s really messy.

This mod started as a fork of this original Hat Kid (DST) mod. At this point virtually no code from that mod is left, almost everything has been rewritten, remade, or removed, however it still served as a big inspiration for me.
