Regarding The Thrones of Decay Gotrek and Felix Update:

It’s come to my attention that with Thrones of Decay, Gotrek and Felix are getting a major update and overhaul.

Tl;dr however, the official CA Gotrek and Felix are both going to be separate and independent legendary heroes (along the lines of The Blue Scribes and Harald Hammerstorm) that are permanently in your roster: no more in-and-out, plus they both have fully fleshed out skill trees. There’s even a quest battle you have to fight to get them on your side.

With so much going into this pair, I think a lot of people will probably prefer what’s coming. Therefore, barring demand, I will likely be abandoning this mod. Provided other people don’t beat me to it, I will see what I can do to keep the spirit of this mod alive and simply allow the factions that can recruit them in this mod (Empire, Dwarves, High Elves, Wood Elves, Bretonnia, Tomb Kings, Lizardmen, Kislev and Cathay) to recruit the improved vanilla versions.

Description:

It’s back and better than ever! The old skool hero version of Gotrek and Felix originally made by the great Shawmuscle and Kaleeb is back!

Like before, this mod makes Gotrek and Felix a single hero unit that levels up and otherwise functions like a normal hero unit, albeit with two models instead of one.
Eight factions (Empire, Dwarves, High Elves, Bretonnia, Lizardmen, Wood Elves, Tomb Kings, and Cathay) all in one easy-to-use package! No more multiple mods; just one mod!
This mod, when activated, will suppress the normal spawning of the DLC Gotrek and Felix.

Please unsubscribe from the old mods and subscribe to this one. The old mods will not be updated, and will be pulled entirely from the workshop in the near future.

–Hero Unit Available to 8(9) factions, while being limited to only the player.

How to get them:

They are recruited like normal heroes.
–Empire, Bretonnia and Dwarves get them from their tavern/public order buildings.
–High Elves, Lizardmen and Tomb Kings get them from any Port building.
–Tomb Kings can also get them from Lahmia.
–Wood Elves get them from any Tree Settlement.
–Cathay get them in the closest thing I could think of for a "Bar" for Cathay
They will be under the normal hero recruitment panel under the following tabs:
Empire: Empire Captain
Dwarves: Thanes
Bretonnia: Paladins
Wood Elves: Branchwraiths (Don’t ask me why they ended up there, but they did).
High Elves: Nobles
Lizardmen: Saurus Scar-Veteran
Tomb Kings: Tomb Princes
Cathay: Gate Master

–The mod is set up in a way that it should allow for any of the above listed cultures to get the heroes, regardless of the faction. It should be, by default, compatible with unlockers and legendary lord mods. Thanks to Mixu for that.

To do List:

Fully add them to Kislev. They are available to those factions in custom battles, but not yet in the campaign.
Regarding Kislev: this hero unit is classified behind the scenes as a "Champion" type hero unit. Currently, Kislev does not have a "Champion" hero. Attempts to integrate them have been met with rather horrific results. For the time being, I’m going to shelve adding them to Kislev and focus on other things. When the day dawns that Kislev gain a "Champion" hero, I will integrate them fully into the campaign.
