Flatwater Basin
This is my second attempt on a custom map. My first one wasn’t bad but became rather stale gameplaywise and I needed something new.

That’s how the idea for this map came to be.
I wanted to upload the map to see what other think of it and whether the gameplay finds any appeal or not.
Flatwater Basin. A map which first looks rather generic when looking at the picture. And yes. As the name suggests the landscape is a
river basin with lots of flatlands. There are some hills and mountains too though. Yet the topography of this map isn’t really that
interesting compared to other classic custom maps like Fjordlands.
There are other things that could make this map much more interesting though than those other maps.
The unwritten goal of the game is to achieve self-sufficiency. Meaning you’ll never have a reason to ever spend any money in the
late- to end-game. A phase which many achieve rather quickly (or not if you’re me).
Here it’s different. Self-sufficiency is a utopia on this map. That’s because it’s got neither oil nor iron. Two baseic commodities
can no longer be produced. So now not only do you need to operate your usuall export chain but parallel to that you’re also going to
need an import chain to fil this gap. Something which so far was rather overlooked by the playerbase in favour if just producing them
on their own. To balance this rather harsh penalty coal and bauxite are more abundant. So it’s a give and take unlike the typical
