Yoyo
Yoyo, from the popular stick fighting series RHG on Youtube, makes his grand entrance in the world of Aether!
Yoyo brings with him a unique mechanic that allows for select attacks (mostly launching moves) to have greater damage and knockback after you execute a successful 5-hit combo!
For his Neutral Special, Flash Flick, he wields a chargable blast that changes properties depending on if you hold or tap! Uncharged, Neutral Special is a short range stun attack, while if it’s charged, acts as a reliable long-ranged kill move. You can also hold Parry while charging in order to store your charge! Listen to the rhythm of the wind-ups. On the third spin, the sound will become faster, meaning you’ll have access to the charged variant, but you can keep charging for more power!
His Forward Special, Yo-yo Cast, reels in foes to keep a combo going! He can angle it up or down to follow up on most attacks or act as an edgeguarding tool! Angle it up and hold the button to latch onto walls and ledges!
His Down Special, Counter, is, well, a counter. However, this one is special, as it puts you behind your opponent, and knocks them upwards to start combos!
And his Up Special, Explosion Vault, is a jump that Yoyo can act out of for a short time. However, he can only use it once in the air (excluding walljumps), so be mindful of when to use it! Also, something to note is that this move damages Yoyo slightly. However, if you tap the special button instead of holding it, Yoyo will instead do a very small hop granting very little distance but avoiding self-damage and pratfall. Also, by hitting an opponent with the explosion or with an attack immediately after the recovery, Yoyo will avoid going into pratfall, so you can extend your combos!
Yoyo has a LOT of alternate skins– a picture guide to them can be seen in the gallery. Hold a direction and and a button during the intro for a skin! Memorize your favorites!
