THE SUITCASE PACKS A PUNCH!
The Suitcase is a love letter to this game and its community – it’s packed to the brim with 5 years (and counting!) of Rivals lore! In-game, this idea manifests in the form of a Roguelite-inspired progression system. A unique gameplay marriage between The Binding of Isaac and platform fighter!
Rack up damage to fill your XP meter – once filled, use Down Special to retrieve an ability-augmenting Item! For the most part, each item is a reference to Rivals’ history in some way.
You can also earn Achievements every match by completing objectives showing off your character mastery, which grant access to even more unique, powerful Items!
- Up Special: Helicopter rise may be cancelled early by pressing the Dodge button. Useful for keeping below the ledge to avoid a hit before walljumping.
- Side Special: The TAXI can be jump cancelled. Press Special or press the stick in the opposite direction for a drift hit. Running the TAXI into the wall will restore your double jump, just like Zetterburn’s Down Special! This is a very important trick to know for recovering as Suitcase.
- Down Special: It’s Down Special, the Roguelite Mechanic! Some items are secret and will appear in the item pool after completing certain Achievements.
