Sackboy
The customizable protagonist of the LittleBigPlanet franchise and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. He brings plenty of tools and powerups in his arsenal to create a path to victory!
Neutral Special
For his neutral special, Sackboy pulls out the Paintinator, as featured in the Metal Gear Solid level pack of LittleBigPlanet, and shoots bit of paint at his opponents. He’ll keep firing if you keep pressing special, but it leaves our cloth companion wide open. While the paint does no knockback, it is very fast and good for keeping damage up.
Side Special
For his side special, Sackboy will put on his trusty Creatinator, a very prominent power-up in the days of LittleBigPlanet 2, and fire one of three projectiles. These projectiles each have their own properties and will always be shot in this specific order:
Fire shoots in a bit of an arc and will cause a burn effect when it hits an opponent.
Electricity shoots out lower, but faster. When it hits, it will cause extended hitpause to the opponent leaving you an opportunity to follow up with another attack.
Plasma shoots way higher and slower than the others, but will cause a plasma stun effect and has higher knockback when hit.
You can tell which one you’ll be firing next by the hazard icons on the HUD. Take this into account when you use your side special.
Down Special
For down special, Sackboy will open his popit, pull out a dangerous electric panel, and place it into the world. Those familiar with PlayStation All Stars will remember this move. When an opponent touches it they’ll be electrified with an extended hitpause, much like the electric projectile in the side special. The move has a cooldown of 290 frames once the panel is placed, while the actual panel will last 300 frames.
Up Special
Up special has Sackboy wear the ever fashionable Boost Boots from LittleBigPlanet 3. You can move in any direction you wish upon boosting. Additionally, this move has two very brief hitboxes on Sackboy himself and the boots. The boots is a much quicker hit than Sackboy and is quite difficult to hit, but it is still good for keeping opponents on their toes.
Sackboy and the LittleBigPlanet series as a whole is well known for the set of costumes you can wear, mix, and match. With that in mind, every alt for Sackboy is its own costume. While it doesn’t alter the gameplay in any way, it’s still a nice little addition. Why don’t we have a look at what costumes you can use to gad about Aether with?
