Better German Unification
If you’re like me, you were probably disapointed by the journal entries surrounding Germany’s unifiication. This is because requirements to tag switch involve owning a lot of land directly, which (other than the annexation of Hanover) didn’t happen historically. This mod changes the requirements and effects of forming the North German Confederation, South German Federation, and Germany itself to be more realistic. With this mod, the experience of unifying Germany will play much more like in Victoria II.
To form the NGF:
– Every North German country must be in your Customs Union.
– No North German country can be a puppet, unless under you.
– Must research Pan-Nationalism.
– Influencing Luxembourg is not necessary.
To form the SGF:
– Every South German country must be in your Customs Union.
– No South German country can be a puppet, unless under you.
– Must research Pan-Nationalism.
– Influencing Austria is not necessary.
To form Germany:
– Every German country must be in your Customs Union.
– No German country can be a puppet, unless under you.
– Must research all Tier III Society technologies, or half of them if you own Elsaß-Lothringen.
– Influencing either Luxembourg or Austria is not necessary.
When you meet the requirements to form one of these nations, you will automatically annex all of the appropriate countries (North Germans for the NGF, South Germans for the SGF, and all Germans for Germany), with the exception of Austria. The only way to eachieve a glorious Großdeutschland is to either form Germany as the Austrians, or to annex their German-speaking territory out-right.
It’s worth noting that this mod only effects journal entries and events. You can still form Germany with normal tech requirements with Unification Plays. I’m not going to remove that option (partly because I don’t know how), but even so, if you want the full experience, just ignore that shiny button.
NOTE:
The screenshots above feature a UI bug that used to be in the mod where the tooltip would want every country to be Great Britain. This bug has since been removed, but for now, the screenshots will be staying as is.
