For 19th Century Maps as base mod

This mod is part of a set of different map mods. Other 19th Century Maps:

19th Century Maps 1804 – 1814: Napoleonic Wars
– 19th Century Maps 1837 – 1901: Victorian Era > Not for now
– 19th Century Maps 1861 – 1877: The American Civil War Era > Not for now
– 19th Century Maps 1871– 1905: Age of Imperialism > Not for now
19th Century Maps 1889 – 1914: Belle Époque in Europe

These mods are not only a modification of the map indeed, I had different desires in the development of these mods:

  • Instead of making a map over a specific year, I preferred to take a period of 10 to 25 years and present the countries, colonies, protectora, subjects, etc. that existed over the period.
  • All mods aim to be very detailed (ex: Confederation of the Rhine or Small colonies like Montserrat, barbados, …).

Extensive content for each periods explored:
  • Creation of 30+ new historical countries.



  • Creation of 50+ new flags: colonial flags, dynastic flags, historical accuret flags or significant flags for the period (ex: Imperial flag of Japan, Austro-Hungarian flag…).
  • Creation of 50+ new name and dynamic name for more accuracy (ex: Viceroyalty of New Spain, Principality of Lucca and Piombino, Duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen, Provisional Government of ROC, Livonia, German East Africa)

  • Upgrading populations, GDP, building and technology according to era.
  • Upgrading of the political regime of the period (ex: Imperial Russia = Autocratic monarchy, etc.)

  • Upgrade of diplomatic relations, alliance games (Axis, Triple Alliance,…), affinities between countries, claimed lands, Continental Blockade …

  • Accurate characters (For now only for Mod 1804 – 1814: Napoleonic Wars): Bonapart Dynasty in Europe and other Ruler.

Diplomatic Interaction:

Re-worked subject types, created several new subject types:

  • Colony: Colonies are like puppets but they cannot develop heavy industry, law enactment is disabled and have an AI strategy that promotes overproduction of raw materials
  • Chartered company (ex: east india company, Dutch West India Company, Hudson’s Bay Company, Russian-American Company, Mozambique Company, Niassa Compan)
  • Napoleonian personal union (ex: Kingdom of Italy 1805–1814)
  • French client state (ex: )
  • Federation/Confederation (ex: USSR, Confederation of the Rhine)
  • Viceroyalty (ex: Viceroyalty of New Spain, Viceroyalty of Peru, Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, Viceroyalty of New Granada)
  • Dual monarchy (ex : Austria-hungary empire) : this type of subject-type is specific to austria-hungry, it allows the player to change as he wishes during the game between the 2 countries, using the diplomatic action "Change main title". This will have the effect of changing the master country of the union (Even if the name does not indicate it, historically the dual-monarchy was more Austrian than Hungarian). This, Austria-Hungary becomes Hungary-Austria and it changes color. You can do this as many times as you want without limit.

Improved AI strategies and script:

> Scripted AI:

  • Creation of 20 events (10 germany and 10 japan), scripted conquests, these 2 countries will launch various diplomatic play of annexation or subjugation every 5 years for 50 years (coded in the on_action, nothing may happen in your games I am evaluating the compatibility between different mods that use this feature). The conquest ends when Germany owns the state of Moscow and when Japan owns the entire West American coast. For the moment the script skips over any truce or alliance which can create bugs. "I’m waiting for your feedback on this feature because I want to extend it to all map mods, especially those where there is no longer a state to colonize, indeed a large part of what creates life in the game vanilla and related to war related to colonization, so…"

> Country strategy:

  • Colonial economy: reworked the mod Subjects Hard Resource Development which allows your colonial subjects (only) to produce indecent amounts of raw material. (Based on Subjects Hard Resource Developement)
  • Lebensraum (For Map Mod 1922 – 1939): don’t play Austria my friend, more seriously this country strategy, makes Japan and Germany much more aggressive with undesirable infamy at 1000. Which increases random conquests in addition to scripted conquests.
