What is this mod about?

Adds a common trade resource – newspapers, and a luxury resource – magazines, as well as the corresponding buildings, technologies, production methods and balance changes. Compatible with vanilla AI.

Description

Newspapers are the heart of the essence of the Victorian era. It’s strange that Paradox didn’t add this key product from the start. I tried to bring the balance and mood closer to Vanilla. Newspapers are common goods consumed by the population with reference to the standard of living. Magazines are a luxury resource consumed along with other "home needs". Develop markets for these resources, balance between supply and demand – and you won’t even notice that this is not part of the vanilla game.

Features:

– Building "Publishing Houses" with unique production methods and advanced production multiplier
– "Newsprint" technology in the 2nd era, unlocking the use of paper for production. "Rotary Printing Press" technology in the 3rd era, unlocking the most advanced production method, increasing production exponentially
– Tuned AI to use newspapers in their development strategies
– Starting newspaper productions as close as possible to the historical values of 1836
– New need for the population: News. In addition to newspapers, it includes radio and telephone. Magazines have been added to household needs
– Beautiful icons wherever needed
– English speaking cultures, Japanese and Germans have a passion for newspapers. The French have a passion for magazines

– How is it that the demand for newspapers is formed not from literacy, but from the standard of living? And why don’t newspapers improve literacy? This is how it creates immersive-breaking, right?
+ Well, questions for Paradox. They will have to come up with a dynamic demand system, because right now it’s a very tight system and doesn’t allow for much maneuvering.

– Why are newspapers made from fabric? What an absurdity?
+ Until the 1840s, newspapers were made mainly from rag mass. In 1844, Charles Fenerty invented paper from wood fibers. A technology will appear in the game that will allow the use of paper as a raw material.

– Vanilla was not designed for additional consumption of fabric and paper
+ That’s right, so fixes have been made to the production methods of the vanilla buildings that produce these resources.

– Is this mod Eurocentric?
+ The leaders of the newspaper business were the British, French, Americans and Germans. Such is history. AI, however, will very quickly flood the whole world with publishing houses.

– Why are these products available for export? Aren’t newspapers a national thing?
+ In fact, it is newspapers and magazines that have the right to be exportable, because with the help of them, historically, Western civilization has imposed the ideology of industrialization on the rest of the world. They were part of the phenomenon by which we have a huge English-speaking part of the world. So I guess it would be unfair to make it a domestic product.

– Will you add new resources like comics?
+ Sounds great, maybe I’ll do it in the future.
