Yunica Tovah
Yunica Tovah, the plucky young Holy Knight from Ys Origin, arrives in Rivals of Aether!
(Guilty Fire: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2848228497)
Yunica is an axe-wielding fighter with Charge/Negative-Edge mechanics! Using her unique Mana system, Yunica can charge up her special moves and unleash them for devastating effects! Much like in Ys Origin, Yunica prioritizes movement and resource management. The young Holy Knight is great at racking up damage and weaving in and out of attacks, but she can just as easily be put on the backfoot if her tools aren’t managed properly.
As a bonus, she’s even got her hidden schoolgirl costume from Ys Origin available as an alternate costume! Hit the EX Button on the Character Select Screen to wear it during a match!

Yunica has a Mana meter that’s used by her special moves: by holding down the Special direction in a particular direction (for N-Special, F-Special or D-Special), Yunica can charge one of her Mana attacks. Yunica can still attack while the special button is held; releasing it will use that selected special move as usual, but releasing the button when the move has been fully charged will unleash a powerful charged version!
You can also release the Special button during certain attacks to active your Mana moves, such as Jab being able to cancel into any of your Mana moves!

Yunica’s main weapon, alongside her trusty axe, is the Crimson Lotusblade!
She’ll use it for her Strongs, Neutral Special and Down Air.
If you tap the Special button right when Yunica swings or thrusts the blade, she’ll launch a Phoenix projectile out of it! You can use this to add on additional damage when hitting someone right next to the blade, keep foes away at a distance, or even create unique combo’s out of the projectiles at range!

A quick and reliable projectile that doesn’t cost much Mana to use. Doesn’t do much in the way of knockback, but great for keeping foes away.
Yunica’s sword swing also has a hitbox, giving you an extra way to rack on damage up close.
When fully charged, Phoenix Flame becomes a huge and devastating projectile with great kill potential!
Releasing the Special Button during a Crimson Lotusblade swing/thrust will shoot out a fully charged Phoenix projectile instead of a regular Phoenix projectile!

Yunica becomes a deadly gliding gale with this attack! A multi-hitting forward moving attack that’s great for combos and crucial for recovering.
The wide whirlwind hitbox is also good for blocking oncoming projectiles.
When fully charged, Cerulean Whirlwind will remain around Yunica for several seconds after she’s stopped moving! You can trap opponents inside this deadly gale to quickly rack up damage and set up for a finisher!

Yunica quickly pulls out her blessed Crystal and teleports in the direction the joystick is held. Though this move has a decently long start up, Yunica is invincible as soon as she flashes blue.
You can also teleport through the stage at certain distances, letting you mix up your recovery further.
Mana moves can be inputted during this move’s animation; after Yunica reappears, you can let go of the Special button to automatically perform that Mana move and avoid going into pratfall though! This technique costs extra Mana though, so be careful not to burn through your whole supply!

Yunica quickly spins in place and brings her axe crashing down to create a deadly pillar of thunder!
This is Yunica’s strongest, and most costly, Mana move in her toolkit. The thunderbolt itself is very slender but has great vertical reach, making it a powerful anti-air.
When used in the air, Thunder Crash becomes a powerful but linear spike! Yunica is forced into whatever jump arc she moved in with this attack, making it tricky to hit, but well worth the power!
When fully charged, Yunica will unleash three thunderbolts in front of her! These bolts combo into each other, making it deadly whether near or afar!
The charged aerial version doesn’t receive any buffs of its own, but when you land with the attack before Yunica is done her swing, she’ll automatically transition into the landed version!
-Jab can be cancelled into any of Yunica’s mana moves: any hit before the fourth one can be cancelled by either inputting a Mana move or releasing the Special button if you have one charged. This also works for fully charged Mana moves.
-F-Air is a multi-hit move, similar to her Jab. Just hit the Attack button to do the full thing!
-F-Tilt can be charged like a Strong move! You’ll see Yunica’s axe gleam when the charge is ready. The charged version of this attack is much stronger and Yunica travels faster and farther than the regular one. Press the Special button while charging to instantly get the charged version in exchange for Mana!
-D-Strong is a two-part move! Hitting the attack button again causes Yunica to charge forward with her sword, which combos into the sourspot of the initial sword thrust. The sweetspot of the first thrust — the tipper — is a powerful diagonal spike which doesn’t combo into the second hit.
