Description:

The aim of this mod is to re-balance morale for far more decisive historically authentic battles with the focus on routing an enemy army with much of the casualties occurring in the retreat.

This also should make battles feel intense in those moments when either army might break.

Morale and battles has been completely reworked to make losses accrue much more slowly with routing much easier and more situational to focus gameplay on forcing an enemy to rout and maintaining your own morale.

Mod includes

– A lot of morale changes including harsher penalties to being attacked in the rear, friendly units routing (to increase chain routs), sudden loss of men, fighting on in loosing engagements etc.,

– Morale has also been buffed for several situations (e.g., in winning engagements, seeing routing enemy)

– Unit HP has been increased so it will take longer for casualties to accumulate (this is to slow down the battles and make the focus more on proper positioning to rout rather than kill the enemy).

– Projectiles have been buffed to keep them relevant with the increased HP

– Fatigue has been tweaked so units can run around the battle field a bit better but will tire slightly faster when in combat.

– I have added some additional moral buffs for the ai on hard and very hard/legendary difficulty to handicap the player whist also maintaining the essence of the mod. Additional balancing could increase or decrease the difficulty if needed (different difficulties need more testing).

Needs to be loaded before the 1212 mod packs to work.

Update 1.2

Mod has been significantly reworked

– Impact of morale debuff for total casualties has been reduced, and impact of very recent casualties increased (this should make it easier to steady the line and continue to use units which have sustained loses whereas the whole army has yet to break

– Greater morale buff when flanks secure, this should help units hold the line for longer when taking causalities but not outflanked

– Units should rout rather than shatter more often and be able to return

– Veterancy now grants greater morale buffs. Given the importance of veterancy historically for morale and the lackluster vanilla vet system, this should help the meaningfulness of experience. The buffs are still small relative to the situational debuffs, so this shouldn’t lead to drastic changes but may help experienced units hold their line a little longer (if you want to use another veterancy mod load that first).

– Now significant fatigue for archers shooting and reloading as historically accurate (may need further tweaking).

– Have nerfed archer morale to help them break more reliably when charged by cavalry out of position

– Please provide feedback in regards to archer balance, they still feel strong though not too strong

-Various other minor tweaks added

– Requires testing/feedback. I’m considering nerfing general’s body guard, while they should be one of the strongest units and harder to rout, they appear a little too strong currently
