Ultra Historical Politics is the second mod of the Ultra Historical mod series.

V. 1.4 compatible with Victoria 3 V. 1.5

  • Laws rebalanced to be more realistic and have more meaningful effects
  • Added new political laws that better represent 19th century political systems
  • Public institutions are more costly in terms of bureaucracy than private/religious ones
  • Laws have dynamic effects on IG attraction and political movements
  • Countries starts with historical laws

As a result, each law change will be impactful in many ways making gameplay more varied.

  • Political party formation makes more sense
  • Political parties are dynamic over time depending on IG’s ideologies
  • Political parties are defined to not destroy legitimacy because of ideological incoherence
  • Legitimacy rebalanced in value and effects depending on the laws
  • Election are less random so more logical depending on IG’s clout and leader popularity

These changes makes political parties meaningful and not debuffs compared to Autocracy’s free choice of governing IGs. Big-tent parties can still exist but in a logical way and will have enough ideological coherence to be able to enact laws.

  • Political movements are stronger and last longer
  • Increased minimum and maximum IG opinions from currently enacted laws
  • Radicalism is more impactful on IG approval
  • Revolutions are more threatening
  • AI is more likely to cave to political movements to avoid civil wars

These changes make political movements more dangerous if unchecked. With bigger (positive and negative) opinion caps for IGs, IGs tends to be more rebellious if constantly pissed off.
Gives a feeling of more reactive pops and IGs and potential insecurity feeling when radicalism is high.
Pops and IGs are not only more reactive to how you run your country, but are also proactive in trying to accomplish their goals. No longer will you be able to ignore them, instead you must carefully balance their interests or, alternatively, ruthlessly use the power of the state to ensure stability.

  • Pops’ attraction to IGs overhauled with many more parameters including country specific ones
  • Conservative IGs like Devout and Landowners are less likely to be marginalized early on and will form powerful conservative blocks
  • Overhauled IG and Leader Ideologies with the addition of new ideologies and a rebalance of existing ones
  • Some IG Ideologies are dynamic over time depending on specific conditions, backed with Journal Entries and Events
  • The Petite Bourgeoisie and Industrialist IGs grow more conservative with liberalization, ensuring conservative opposition throughout the game

These changes makes Interest Groups way more dynamic over time, with their ideologies evolving with society. IG’s attraction overhaul also increase historical immersion and country uniqueness.
Important points on citizenship laws : Multiculturalism is now something only far-left leaders will support in the late game, even cultural exclusion law would need lots of evolution from the intelligentsia IG before being possible.

Note about VTM compatibility

Uh series mods are mostly compatible with VTM (it might exist very minor incompatibility but nothing game breaking) but you have to place the UH series mods after VTM in your modlist.
