Epirus DEI Reforms
Welcome to my Epirus DEI Reforms pack.
This mod is part of my ‘what if’ reform mod series and is the third instalment. These produce an alternate experience had events been different historically. This mod aims to try and keep as authentic and true to history within the ‘what if’ scenario. The whole basis of this pack is based on if Pyrrhus has managed to beat the early Roman republic.
A key point of this pack is Pyrrhus issues with manpower when fighting the Roman republic. This pack features 2 new reforms for the Epirus faction, the first is an early reform and second late reform . With these reforms this gives Epirus 4 reforms in total. Another feature of this mod is the ability to recruit a VERY limited number of italic units initially. This simulates the Italian peoples that sided with Pyrrhus in the Pyrrhic War.
As for the reforms themselves the first is triggered by conquering Italy and the second is triggered after a certain amount of turns and conquering Cisaplania and Italy and holding it. I must stress if you do not hold Cisaplania and Italy for the entirety of the amount of turns required, the second reform turn timer will restart and you will have to hold the regions for the required time from the start again. There are 5 reform units and 3 new units. Also the Galatian Thorax sword unit is recruit able by Epirus same as it is for the other Diadochi.
Now on to the units themselves –
Main Units:
Italici Thureophoroi Euzonoi:(Reformed Theuros Swords) – New ways of war have taught new valuable lessons. These warriors are a flexible force, they provide the teeth to the Epirote Army.
Italici Thureophoroi:(Reformed Theuros Spears) – New ways of war have taught new valuable lessons. These warriors are a flexible force able to support the main phalanx.
Campaniae Hippeis:(Campanian Cavalry) – Heavy cavalry from the Italian peninsula. They are an armoured fist that announces themselves with a volley of javelins and then a thunderous charge.
Italici Phalangitai:(Italian Pikemen) – Italians who have been trained in the way of the pike phalanx. After the proven success of the phalanx against the maniple, these warriors have adopted the phalanx as their new way of warfare. Not as formidable as a true hellenic taxeis, these warriors can call themselves Phalangites and prove worthy of the name.
Aristoi Italici-Hellenikoi Hippies:(Italian-Hellenic Noble Cavalry) – Italian and Hellenic nobles that fight as heavy cavalry. Well able to handle any encounter, they are rightly feared. (Early Reform)
Aristoi Italici-Hellenikoi Hippies:(Reformed Italian-Hellenic Noble Cavalry) – Italian and Hellenic nobles that fight as heavy cavalry. Now using new equipment, these already heavy cavalrymen are now truly dangerous to any foe.
(Late Reform)
Basilikoi Molossoi Hypaspistai:(Reformed Molossian Royal Guard) – These men are traditionally recruited from the most valiant of the Molossian tribe. Now equipped with the roman influenced Scutum and wearing heavier armour these men are even more deadly than before. Their presence on the battlefield is a inspiration to their own troops and to the enemy is the bell which signals the end has come.
Epirotoi Phalangitai:(Reformed Italic Pikemen)Now composed of men from all of Italia, Magna Graecia, Sikelia and other occupied territories along with their Hellenic brothers . These Pikemen now given heavier armour are now the centre of the Epirote battleline. (Thorax Reform)
Reworked units –
Thesprotoi Thorakitai Pheraspidai – (Thorax swords) This unit has been reworked so that it now uses some Roman influenced equipment and has has had subsequent stat changes to reflect the romanization of this unit.
Italic Units:
Samnitici:(Saminite Warriors) – Saminite warriors who have allied with Pyrrhus in his war with Rome. They can be counted on to fight fiercely due their peoples subjugation at the hands of Rome.
Hoplitae Etruscani:(Etruscan Hoplites) – Stern men from the North Italian state of Etruia. They have offered their services to the Epirotes in the hopes of finally extinguishing the Roman threat.
Once again i would like to thank the DEI team for the ongoing incredible work that they do with this mod because without them none of this would be possible, DEI is required for this mod to work. If you have not tried it i would encourage you to do so, as it truly enhances the game in my own opinion. Also there are a couple of individuals and groups i would like to thank – Sergeant Meme Swaraj whom without his endless patience and time in teaching me, i would have never made this mod or started modding. Jake Armitage for his help in answering questions to which i had no idea to. To the DEI and my own discord for their help and input in general.
