Mallory Pestes joins the world of Aether, bringing her ghostly miasma abilities with her, alongside peculiar control over paranormal energy and glass constructs through a Hex she’s been afflicted with.
Mal focuses on a slightly more defensive playstyle, revolving around spreading her miasma to induce a status effect, so she can dish out grand kill moves.
Down Special: Bringer of Miasma
Mal beckons forth a spiral of miasma, which leaves behind 2 clouds of smog. This is your main way to summon miasma, and has a radial hitbox.
Miasma causes a nausea effect on the opponent for a few seconds, or until they parry you. They take tick damage while under this status, and hitting them with any Strong attack will give it a follow-up "Hexglass" second hit, that deals great damage.
Neutral Special: Hexseeking Shard
Mal unchains her powers and sends out a hexglass shard, which flies forward. On release of the button, the shard explodes into miasma. The shard will home into the opponent at close range, if they’re sick.
Side Special: Bottle Pop
Mal throws an empty water bottle behind her, summoning smoke inside it and causing it to pop from the pressure, rocketing her forward.
Up Special: Hoodiechute
Mal creates an impromptu parachute using her smoke and her hoodie. Similar to Peach and Ori recoveries, but will leave behind smoke on cancellation.
All of Mal’s Strongs involve her unchaining her ghostly powers to mold the sickly miasma to her whims, and also are empowered if the struck opponent is sick.
Additionally, you can air dodge or wavedash inside of a smoke cloud to gain a notable boost in movement.
