Giddy-Up 2 (temporary beta)

This is an overhauled fork of Giddy-Up, developed with permission from the original author Roolo. It’s an all-in-one, containing all the modules in a single mod, internally modularized within the mod options.
Giddy-up is broken down into three modules:
- Ride and Roll: If pawns have a job that is sufficiently far enough away, they will consider finding a mountable animal to ride there. You can setup zones to forbidden riding (like indoors) as well as dismount points where they should hop off.
- Battle mounts: Pawns will be able to both melee attack and shoot (at a reduced accuracy) while riding their steed, and the animal can fight as well. Watch out though, because enemy raiders can do the same and may arrive mounted up.
- Caravans: If a pawn is heading out on a big adventure, they may exit the map in style, mounted upon a caravan animal (as opposed to walking out roping them like in vanilla). Wandering traders may also arrive mounted up.
Giddy-up was originally developed by Roolo. He stopped modding because he’s working on a game now, which you can check out below. Even just simply adding it to your wishlist helps!
- Performance driven code overhaul: Modding has come a long way since the original mod was made. Using modern resources we modders now have available, the code has been groomed, showing upwards to 20x performance gains.
- All-in-one: All the sub-mods are included and internally compartmentalized. You can toggle them in the mod options.
- Hugslib dependency removed: No more fussing about with 3rd party hooks that may cause delays when the game updates.
- Continued support: Bug reports from the original mod are being processed and sorted out in this new version.
- New features? Once the dust settles and I have time to better absorb this code I adopted, I can look into new features.
Q. Can I switch over from the original mod mid-save?
A. Yes, although you may see some red errors the first time you switch over due to the data being saved differently. Simply re-save your game and reload again and they should clear up. Use Mid-saver Saver if you encounter problems.
Q. What about the mechanoids module?
A. Maybe someday! That one has a few gotchyas like needing WTH to work, and it was never updated to 1.4 either. Not to mention complications with Biotech. It may just get reworked from scratch.
Q. Can I remove this mod mid-save?
A. Mods that involves custom areas can sometimes cause issues with removal. Emphasis on sometimes, I was able to remove it fine when testing. But if you run into any of these problems, use Mid-saver Saver.
Due to the code overhaul, mods that tied into the original Giddy-Up will need to be updated. Below are some notes I’m aware of:
- Yayo animations: Updated!
- Sarg’s animal saddles: Updated!
- Dragon’s Descent: Needs patch update, already done. Just needs uploading.
- Saddle-Up: Saddle-up 2
- Some animals with long necks have their head drawn in front of the pawn using a second graphic layer. If you have a texture replacement for these sorts of animals, this feature won’t apply.
