Description:
Introduction:

Once again, the time is upon us; the fifth year since Kiooeht unleashed his genius upon the modding scene with Mod the Spire. That’s right, 2023/01/18 marks the fifth year of modding the spire with Mod the Spire, so a hell of a lot of the members of the modding discord came together and made something for everybody to enjoy.

Description:

Introducing the Packmaster, a small guy with a massive weight on his shoulders. He really should get that junk out of his backpack.
Upon choosing the class, you get sent to a draft screen where you may select 3 random packs from a choice of 3, as well as the Core Set and 3 completely randomly chosen packs (this setup is customizable).
What is a pack, you might ask? It’s a contribution from one or more members of the community that contains 10 draftable cards and represents a mini archetype in of itself. This ends up creating the set of cards you can see in card rewards over the course of the run similar to the base game characters, just with way more replayability!

Are you the type of person that needs some extra motivation? Well, don’t you worry, for we have HATS!
Whenever you win a run with a pack, you unlock its hat. This fancy accessory can be worn on (or somewhere within the vicinity of) your head to show off your good taste and prowess to the spire denizens.

All of this is completely customizable. You don’t like a pack? You can filter it on the character selection screen’s custom menu.
You want to start with a certain pack or more choices (or less? OR NONE AT ALL!?) then so be it. The custom draft button makes your wishes come true.
You want to wear one of your hard-earned hats? Select it. Or don’t, and get a random one each run!
There’s also the "addhat" command you can use with the console to unlock any hat you want if you don’t want to unlock all of them by winning runs or lose your progress somehow.

What would a workshop page be without some stats:

  • 69+ packs chock-full of custom cards and mechanics!
  • 800+ new cards!
  • 10+ character-specific relics!
  • 9+ character-specific potions!

With so many moving parts it’s impossible to foresee every interaction and some packs may still require some tweaking, so please use the provided threads to leave feedback.
If you find bugs, please use the bug reports thread to report them, same with the crash reports as explained below:

PLEASE SUBMIT A CRASHLOG IF YOU REPORT A CRASH

You can find the crashlog in SteamsteamappscommonSlayTheSpiresendToDevslogsSlayTheSpire.log if you haven’t restarted the game after the crash.

The most important bit is most likely going to be at the very end, it’ll look something like this

20:43:36.118 ERROR core.CardCrawlGame> Exception caught java.lang.NullPointerException: null …

Please give us everything from that point onward. Thank you!

Special Thanks:

To so many people! We broke the record for contributors, and it’s really shown. I won’t be adding all of them to the workshop page as contributors because it’s a little unwieldy at this point, but if you want to see everybody, you can do so here (or look at the pack authors in game):
https://github.com/erasels/PackmasterCharacter/graphs/contributors

The artists won’t be on there, so thank you to:
FreshBone for the wonderful character select art
Opal for the card art of the basic cards and the CoreSet

Some individuals have put in a ton of effort beyond what was asked for, and I’d like to thank them specifically:

  • Vex for creating most of the groundwork for the pack system and hats.
  • Michael Mayhem for the great idea and making most of the custom card backs.
  • Modargo for helping me with helping the contributors when I couldn’t stem the tide of contributions alone anymore.
  • AlexMdle for creating most of the character and hat art.
  • Mwalls for translating this massive project to ZHS.
  • Kiooeht for creating ModTheSpire which made all of this possible in the first place.

For the code and (slightly out of date) documentation, as well as the contribution rules and more, please go to the Packmaster github repo, found here:
