Civil Service (Game Mode)
New optional game mode – Civil Service. All following gameplay additions are active only if game mode is selected during game setup.
Work is a city’s yield and can be stored up to 250*. Sources of Work include:
- +0.2 per Citizen
- Buildings (Granaries, Workshops, Barracks, Stables and Dockyards)
- Specialists (Encampment, Harbor, Commercial Hub, Industrial Zone)
- Social Policies
- Governors
- Wonders
Defined as a standard yield, it is affected by Amenities and AI handicap (8% kind). Stored Work can be used when city is unthreatened (undamaged, no nearby enemy). Process is automatic (at the turn start). Common actions include:
- Repairing an improvement (costs 50* Work) within city’s territory.
- Repairing a route (costs 50* Work) or upgrading an existing route to railroad (costs 75* Work) – unlocked by railroad’s prereq technology. Range extends city’s territory but is not global.
- Creating a new improvement (costs 200* Work) within city’s territory.
- Transferring 50* Work to other city.
Stored work is lost on city conquest. *Values affected by game speed. Displayed for standard speed.
By default the mode should ease micromanagement of improvements and railroads, especially in later stages of game. You can also increase Work’s output multiplier parameter to trivialize this aspect of the game even more.
Mod was created for and tested on the newest available version with all DLC content, see upload/update date respectively. Mod overwrites following in-game files: civ6common.lua
