Judges of Sardinia
Isolated by its distance from the Eastern Roman Empire, the province of Sardinia was forced to devolve its authority out of necessity. The central control of the Iudex Provinciae fractured and four fiercely independent kingdoms formed: Arborea, Cagliari, Gallura, and Logudoro, characterized by their unique form of government centered around an all powerful "judge." Although Sardinia was frequently desired by outside powers for its rich natural resources, the Judgedoms thrived well into the fourteenth and even fifteenth century.
Medieval Sardinia is not well reflected in vanilla CK3 so I took the liberty of fleshing it out. This mod turns the Judicatures into actual kingdoms, as well as includes various other flavor. They should now be much harder to conquer, each kingdom able to maintain its independence.
Features
- The Four Kingdoms can be united under one empire-tier title
- The Sardinian culture now has many more traditions, as well as its own unique tradition.
- Sardinians have access to the Bujakesos men-at-arms regiments, which are powerful light cavalry well equipped to fight any foe. The Judicatures will use them almost exclusively.
- The duchy and kingdom of Sardinia no longer exists in either start date. Instead, Corsica is under the de jure Kingdom of Italy and each county in the former duchy of Sardinia now belongs to its own duchy and kingdom.
- Corsica now has the Italian culture in its counties.
- The various kings and princes of Sardinia now have scripted traits.
Planned future features:
- Catalan adventurers
- Decisions available to foreign powers that get footholds on Sardinia to create the Kingdom of Sardinia and destroy the Judicatures.
- A number of flavor events related to the Judicatures and their rule.
This mod will not be compatible with anything that modifies Sardinia’s province, character, or title history. If you wish to use this with a mod that does modify Sardinia and still experience this mod’s full features, put it lower in your load order.
