About

The goal of this mod is to promote more use of the professionalism mechanic, while also making it more important in game-play. It also touches on manpower and war exhaustion, aiming to make longer wars much more brutal on your country. I go into detail on each change below.

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with most mods. You may experience trouble with total overhaul mods which change professionalism.

Army Professionalism

Drill Gain now increases by 20% every level of Army Professionalism you gain. Previously, you would get +100% Drill Gain at the last level of professionalism, which I didn’t think made much sense.

You also now gain 2.5% yearly army professionalism from drilling, which was previously 1% (at max forcelimit drilling) as well as +2% army movement speed per level of Professionalism. (Equalling 10% at max)

Armies cost 20% more at max professionalism, as you are upkeeping a highly professional army.

Max Army Professionalism Modifier Changes
– Fire Damage [10% -> 20%]
– Shock Damage [10% -> 20%]
– Siege Ability [20% -> 50%]
– Drill Decay Modifier [-50% -> -65%]
– Land Maintenance Modifier [0% -> 20%]

War Exhaustion

I felt as though war exhaustion needed to be made even more brutal, aimed at making you consider seriously whether or not it’d be worth it to gain those extra few provinces. I intend to change the cost to buy war exhaustion down sooner or later.

Max War Exhaustion
– National Unrest [+20 -> +30]
– Slower Regiment Recruiting Speed [40% -> 60%]
– Slower Ship Building Speed [40% -> 60%]
– Core Creation Cost [60% -> 60%]
– Manpower Recovery Speed [-20% -> -40%]
– Sailors Recovery Speed [-20% -> -40%]
– Siege Ability [-10% -> -15%]
– Goods Produced Modifier [-40% -> -60%]

Manpower Changes

this part is kind of empty, but I just wanted to make manpower a small bit more scarce (it’s not a big change)
Land-province Manpower Modifier [25% -> 17.5%]

AI Changes

AI will now surrender after three years of full occupation [5 -> 3]
AI is moderately more likely to attack weaker enemies (about 20-30%.)
AI is more likely to drill at peace
AI will try slightly riskier naval invasions
AI is more willing to send troops abroad

Unit Changes

Infantry now has 5% breakthrough
Cavalry now has 7.5% breakthrough
Cavalry speed buffed to 0.85 [0.75 -> 0.85]

Fort & Attrition Changes

Sieging forts now deals 25% more attrition to make up for siege bonuses granted through professionalism
You now take 50% less attrition at sea
Disease Outbreak now kills 7.5% of your army, rather than 5%
Forts will now fall if you have 200 or less men defending them [100 -> 200]
