Shmitz’s Armory
Welcome to Shmitz’s Armory! We provide quality equipment to heroes in their hour of need.
This mod adds several weapons and offhand items, including new weapon categories complete with their own elemental sets and artifacts.
Boomerangs are close to mid range weapons. They are weak on damage, but they will hit up to two targets and have small additional effects depending on the boomerang’s element. Unlike the mystic’s "discus" ability, a boomerang will not hit a target outside of its range (it has to return to its owner after all). But it will hit the second target, even if it is on the opposite side of the thrower from the first!
- All tiers, all elemental varieties.
Sickles all come with a small bonus to stunt chance and to potency, making them an alternative to rapiers for heroes that like to stunt, and useful to any hero that needs potency to fuel their more interesting abilities.
- All tiers, all elemental varieties.
War fans come in sets of two, effectively making them two handed weapons. They offer a bonus to speed, as well as a flanking effect. Unlike daggers, they don’t double their damage, but they do substantially increase stunt chance, making them a fine choice for heroes that like to trigger elemental effects.
- All tiers, all elemental varieties.
Though standard offhand equipment that any craftsman can forge, they are slightly more costly than normal shields. They have a slight penalty to speed, but offer a nice boost to blocking, in addition to the usual benefits of a shield.
- Single tier.
These smaller shields don’t reduce damage taken, but they do increase both dodge and block chances.
- Single tier.
Increases perception and accuracy. Useful to pair with crossbows or other ranged abilities.
- Single tier.
If you still have action points left after you throw it, it doesn’t end your turn. It also deals double damage if it hits from a flanking angle.
Shreds armor when you stunt with it.
Creates a shardnado when you stunt with it.
When you get a kill, it temporarily buffs speed, dodge, and attack range.
When you get a stunt, it boosts stunt chance and stunt damage. This buff can stack, but it decays over time.
Attacks pierce armor, and kills with it restore health. Refreshing!
Increases block chance, and boosts accuracy and damage when you block.
Builds up power over time. If you have a wand equipped, you can overload it to unleash that power. The damage and range depends on how many rounds have passed since you last used it.
Passively protects you from one fatal blow per combat. Or, you can expend it intentionally to heal yourself and all adjacent allies for a small amount.
On a dodge, there is a chance to enter grayplane. This chance is increased by the hero’s stunt chance.
Of the included artifacts, only the Fairy Flower and the Silkworm Shield have a single tier. All other artifacts have three tiers.
There is also a random site event included, "The Wandering Armory", to give you a better opportunity to get a fun item from this mod.
This mod does not change any of the vanilla game files, so it should be compatible with most mods. Please let me know if you find otherwise!
Due to limitations on custom item categories, only the elemental spirits will really know that your heroes are using boomerangs, sickles, and war fans. Text in other parts of the game, such as the crafting screen and the loot assignment screen, will call them by other names. Boomerangs will be called Greatswords, Sickles will be called Dueling Swords, and War Fans will be called Greataxes. Take care when replacing weapons that you’re not replacing the wrong thing. You can usually tell by looking at the stats of what you’re replacing.
The other side effect of this is that unlocking the elemental version of a weapon will unlock it for both (for example, unlocking fire greatswords will also unlock fire boomerangs, and vice versa).
Since this is the initial release, I am definitely looking for feedback, particularly any bugs you encounter, and any significant balance issues, such as:
- Too weak, would never use the item because other better items are readily available.
- No synergy with hero abilities.
- Too strong, not just in the "it’s powerful" sense, but that you could never see a situation where you would use anything else.
- Unexpected synergy with a hero ability that trivializes most encounters.
