Description:

SS1 is China’s first generation mainline electric locomotive. The original model of this freight and passenger locomotive is 6Y1, which originally the Soviet Union made type N6O electric locomotive. 6Y1 electric locomotive was built in 1958 which had never been in production due to poor quality and reliability. After 20 years of modifications and improvements, it renamed as Shaoshan 1 (SS1) and went in production in 1980. 826 were built during 1958-1988(includes 7 6Y1s).
