What is this!

This mod is a new HERO class unit for your game.
Designed by members of the former TeamCX, Hulk and ObelixDK.

The ‘Proxian Unit’ utilises a mix of his home worlds advanced alien technology fused with Shen’s engineering know-how and his adopted rescuers martial combat to be a truly formidable unit.
They are meant to be highly overpowered elite units. They pay for their power by being inherently lacking in standard mobility however.

Mod Features

This mod is loaded with stuff;

  • Custom Hero unit class and intro movie!
  • Custom perks, animations, GTS, ranks and icons
  • Special recruitment that gives you one on GateCrasher
  • Covert Action mission to obtain another
  • Class can not be promoted into from rookie, or trained in the GTS
  • Custom death loop effects, can be ‘rebuilt’
  • Special Weapons and Armour
  • MOST things are config editable

Equipment

The Proxian unit comes equipped with Palm Blasters, Wrist Blades and a Wrist Launcher.
Shooting the Blasters does not end the turn.
The Palm Blaster should take all standard weapon attachments.
The Wrist Blade should be treated as a melee weapon for Melee Attachments
Weapons do not have or benefit from Breakthroughs

They have their own unique armour.
They can only ever get 1 utility item slot.

There are no plans for integration of other weapons or set ups (such as Dedicated Pistol Slot )
The unit uses a custom made character base model and may not have existing animation for stuff like pistols etc.

Additional Details

Can be bonded, should work fine with ‘Dual Strike’.
Gets normal AP to spend.
They can not "die" and should not bleed-out. When taking lethal damage the unit will instead instantly teleport back to the Avenger, where they can be rebuilt in the Proving Ground.
Maximum of 2 units in your entire roster. (Config editable)

Despite being "robotic" in nature, heals like a normal soldier on the Avenger and has no interaction with the Robotics Repair Facility

Configs

Lots of stuff in the configs … basically, most values can be adjusted easily.

Compatibility

Works with Covert Infiltration and Prototype Armoury Single Build
Works with Energy Shield Overhaul
Works with UFOPedia

Custom Armour and customisation should work fine with Unrestricted Customisation Redux or Iridars Appearance Manager
Custom Armour should work with Tesla Armour Modules , although it inherently has nothing set up in this mod.
Custom ranks should have no issue with Iridars Rank Replacer
The wrist rockets are a standard XCOM Heavy Rocket Launcher and will be affected by mods that adjust them, such as Improved Rocket Targeting
Gets the benefits of Heavy Weapon Storage and Nano Machine Repair from Metal Over Flesh
Can NOT be Gene Modded or Psionic Graded , but should be able to use Augmentations just fine.

Known Issues

Might have issues in cinematics involving unique stuff, like BlackSite Vials or Forge Suits.
Please use a ‘normal’ soldier for those actions.

Some animations (especially from cover) have a "holding ghost-rifle" idle animation inserted by the idle-state-machine. We cannot eliminate all of these in a timely fashion (animations are a long hard process!). We are working on them though! This is a purely visual issue and does not affect game play.

!! IMPORTANT !!
Proxian units made before the v1.2 update will be bugged and need to be DISMISSED from the XCOM Barracks!!
This was due to a custom pawn bug, that has now been fixed.
Thankfully you can use the console command Proxian_AddNewRecruit (rank) to give yourself fixed versions
The (rank) is a number for the rank of the unit. 1-7, with 1 being Squaddie and 7 being Colonel

We do not know of any other current issues.

FAQ
  1. How do I get one?
    You should have one from the campaign start as an additional unit in GateCrasher.
    Otherwise a Covert action should appear to find one.
  2. Mid-campaign install?
    Should be fine for a mid campaign strategy save mod install
  3. Works with …
    CI = yes,
    LWotC = yes, but no pistol perks or 8th rank
    RPGO = yes, but no specs, so will be a normal unit
    Amalgamation = Untested, but expect a normal unit
