Description:

Some say Heroes are blessed by the Goddess of Courage. They display great bravery regardless, and they possess skill with a wide array of items. They are comfortable with most roles in a team, and they are highly resourceful when alone.

Theme

This character is based on Link from Legend of Zelda. He is an all-round character. His damage potential requires high health & marks to be incredible– but it is incredible under those circumstances– and he possesses a marvelous amount of utility with his abilities & items. I’m happy to say I think this is my best mod yet.

It also has custom music at the camp, and more songs as camp skill additions in the future.

His damage enhancement is based on two Zelda mechanics: Sword Beam and Navi (or a fairy companion in general). The high health damage buff represents the Sword Beam’s additional damage, and marks represent the fairy companion revealing weaknesses. Players may find items which build upon these facets in addition to other insane gadgets.

Abilities

1) Thrust: Link thrusts his sword into the enemy. If above 85% health, it does additional damage as Sword Beam.

2) Hurricane Spin: Link slashes the first 2 enemies, doing damage and scattering them while clearing corpses. Unfortunately, he gets dizzy from spinning, losing speed and dodge. It also has the Sword Beam property.

3) Steady Shot: Link looses an arrow upon an enemy. It does immense damage if the enemy is marked, and one can find magical arrows to unlock amazing powers.

4) Courage: Link summons courageous inspiration from Farore, bestowing it upon himself or someone in the party. Strong stress heal. Can grant amazing bonuses upon discovering the Goddesses’ items.

5) Hookshot: Link fires his hookshot at an enemy, bringing them both to rank 1. Both are marked. Iron Boots allows you to use Hookshot without moving.

6) Big Bomb: Link hurls a large bomb at middle enemies. Clears corpses, scatters enemies, and reduces their defense.

7) Boomerang: Link hits all 4 enemies for pathetic damage, but marks all of them, and has a small chance to stun them. If they’re marked, he gains more stun chance.

Trinkets

These trinkets have a ton of combinations and synergy to change Link’s role. Iron Boots + Hookshot for a tanky puller. Mirror Shield + Heart Container for a beefy reflect guardian.

If you have the guts, you can also be a high-risk healer.

So on, so on. I’m sure you’ll find more amazing combos.

The penalty for these items, generally speaking, is extra stress taken.

1) Iron Boots: Adds protection, reduces speed, and makes Link immune to push/pull.

2) Hover Boots: Adds dodge & speed after the first round, makes you completely vulnerable to push/pull.

Surprise set bonus if you wear them both.

3) Light Arrow: Unlock the magic in your bow. Reduces enemy accuracy by an extremely large amount & increases ranged damage quite a lot.

4) Ice Arrow: Unlock the magic in your bow. Stuns enemies & increases danged damage quite a lot.

Surprise set bonus if you wear them both.

5) Heart Container: Extremely big boost to health and healing received.

6) Megaton Hammer: Large damage increase in rank 1, but lose some accuracy.

7) Mirror Shield: Reflect a large amount of damage, but take a large amount of extra stress. CoM Trinket.

8) Golden Gauntlets: Gain damage & the strength to knock enemies back with melee attacks.

9) Duelist Hookshot: Gain accuracy. Gain dodge when marked. Gain extra move chance.

10) Fairy Companion: Gain increased damage, crit, and accuracy against marked targets.

11) Triforce of Courage: Gain the ability to heal and buff prot on an ally, but beware: 50% increased stress and immunity to guard. Very rare trinket. Set bonus with Fierce Deity Mask.

12) Gale Boomerang: Gain dodge and accuracy per enemy hit. Intended for use with the Boomerang, but hey, I won’t tell you what to do.

13) Fierce Deity Mask: 5% resolve chance per friendly aid. When virtued, gain defensive bonuses. CC Trinket. Set bonus with Double Helix Sword.

14) Trusty Compass: Greatly increase scouting chance. This is good for curio hunting in your preferred dungeon(s).

15) Bigger Bomb: This trinket increases crit & damage of your bomb ability. Adds stress & speed debuff.

16) Double Helix Sword: 5% resolve chance per enemy hit. When virtued, gain offensive bonuses. CC Trinket. Set bonus with Fierce Deity Mask.

17) Farore’s Wind: The Hero uses Farore’s Wind to bless the party with dodge and speed. Lasts 2 full rounds.

18) Din’s Fire: The Hero gains positional damage buffs and reductions. He can also bless his team with enhanced damage, accuracy, and critical rating. Lasts 2 full rounds.

19) Nayru’s Love: The Hero gains protection. He can also bless his team with enhanced protections & stress resistance. Lasts 2 full rounds.

More coming, too.

Camp Skills

1) Ballad of the Windfish: Link plays his ocarina, reflecting on past adventures. He steels his resolve, giving stress resistance and a little accuracy to the party.
2) Sword Beam: Link uses his sword as a conduit for his life energy, gaining stronger strikes above 85% health.
3) Fairy Companion: Link releases his fairy friend from a bottle. She gives him tactical advice for 4 battles, improving his damage, crit, and accuracy vs marked targets.
4) Song of Time: Link alters time around himself and his party, giving them some speed and dodge.

Future Plans

Unless AceroSteel makes a Zelda skin (vestal?), I can’t think of anything else I’d like to add to Darkest Dungeon.

I’d sure like to make a Darkest Dungeon class mod for my fiance to play.

Known Issues

None known at the moment.

Huge Thanks

Big thanks to PerplexFlex and AceroSteel. Perplex welcomed me to help him with a mod, and that’s how I started.

Also, as always, a huge "HEY, LISTEN!"

AceroSteel makes great art. Visit his profile on the Nexus and congratulate him for honing his talent! I hope he never stops making awesome art! His work inspired me to make the mods I’ve made.

I made the recolors and fx. I think I did a great job, this time. Some slight adjustments are needed here and there, but they’ll come in time.

Final Thoughts

… this guy has a ton of potential damage modifiers. I’d love to see some screenshots of how high people can take it. Give me some nerf justification!

I’d like feedback on the numbers. I’ve been having fun playing him, but I’m only one person, and I can only test him so much.
