Realistic African Colonization [1.37]
This is a 1.37 repackaging/update/spinoff for Realistic African Colonization mod by Claudio Maladestra.
- This mod prevent colonizing of non-coastal african provinces in North and South Africa Superregions.
- It also prevents declaring war on non-coastal nations in the same regions.
- Unlike original mod, all African nations south of Maghreb and Egypt cannot declare war at all.
- Unlike original mod, Muslim Stronghold modifier that prevented conversion of Maghreb Region has been replaced with Entrenched Religion modifier that incurs "only" -5 conversion penalty. Still difficult but no longer impossible to break through.
Vic3 conversion, basically, and maintaining Victoria 3 mechanics for African colonization.
What usually happens in Africa is:
- Without any mods, europeans eat the entirety of Africa in 1600s, leaving not much for actual 19th century colonization. Rather anticlimactic.
- With previous version of this mod where only africans could fight other africans – one or two natiions would go ham (Ethiopia, Timbuktu, it varies) and eat up entire subsaharan africa. This results in a gigantic decentralized nation wielding hundreds of thousands of troops fighting colonizers, which is as an ahistorical outcome as can be.
Goal of the mod is to freeze Africa "in time" so it becomes only relevant in 19th century. Colonizers can still attack the coastal nations and take provinces, but they can’t expand really deep, which is the point.
With this mod playing African nations is very much a no-go. You cannot declare any wars. If you want to play in subsaharan Africa, disable this mod.
