Heart of Darkness

This modification is a work of fiction, and is loosely based on real world history. The groups, characters, places, names and events in this modification are fictional.

Heart of Darkness is a project focusing on Africa from the 1970s to the 1990s, and takes numerous creative liberties in an attempt to flesh out the conflicts between a number of original countries that are referenced in the ArmA series; notably Lombakka and Bocano. At this time, the plan is for Heart of Darkness to focus on two primary conflicts; the Bocano Civil War 1975-1997 and the Lombakkan Civil War 1981-1992.

By design, Heart of Darkness utilises Global Mobilization from Vertexmacht and The Free World Armoury by TepacheLoco. Both are essential to Heart of Darkness, and I am immensely appreciative for the fantastic work they have done.

Movimento Popular de Libertacao de Bocano – [OPFOR]
The Movimento Popular de Libertacao de Bocano (People’s Movement for the Liberation of Bocano), founded in 1957, are led by Antonio Correia, a Portuguese-educated lawyer. They seek to establish a communist regime within Bocano, and actively oppose the União dos Povos de Bocano and Frente de Libertação de Bocano. The MPLB occupies the north of Bocano, and has received considerable material support from the Soviet Union, the wider Warsaw Pact and Cuba in recent years.

Despite being the smallest of the combatants in the Bocano Civil War, the MPLB are the most well-equipped and well-trained of them – fielding modern armaments supplied by their allies.

União dos Povos de Bocano – [INDEP]
The União dos Povos de Bocano (People’s Union of Bocano), founded in 1954, are led by Sebastiao Duarte, a Portuguese-educated teacher. Despite being the largest combatant in the civil war the UPB was the most ill-equipped during the early years; relying upon scavenged or abandoned equipment from Portugal and the MPLB.

Operating as an infantry-based guerrilla army the UPB has occupied the central and eastern regions of Bocano, and has received material support from China, Zaire, Yugoslavia, South Africa, West Germany and the United States.
