Description:

Changes the tooltips for the difficulty settings to show what effects are being applied. Does not actually make any changes to the difficulty settings.

There also some changes to the AI’s decision making process, specifically around when it does & doesn’t decide to declare war, that aren’t captured in the tooltips of this mod. In general the lower AI levels are much less likely to declare war, and the higher level AIs are more likely to declare war, particularly against the player.

NOTE: There is currently believed to be an issue with the aggressiveness of the AI on higher difficulties, specifically it’s believed that higher level AIs are less likely to try to start sieges. This may be because one of the values that is negative in the code should be positive or vice versa, but I can’t say for sure. It’s ultimately not clear to me from the code what might be causing this issue, or if there definitely is an issue with the higher level AI to begin with.

If you don’t like the modifiers in the vanilla game, consider installing my Difficulty Remastered mod.
