Description:
Credit to Lskeetskeet for the majestic screenshots as always!

Welcome back to the beginning of the end of the NYC 4-6-4 Hudson series. As I mentioned back when I released the unstreamlined Hudsons that I would be working on the streamlined versions!

The Commodore Vanderbilt!

The first of the streamlined engines during the 1930’s and the art deco era. Named after the NYC’s most famous leader Cornelius Vanderbilt. Out shopped in 1934 designed by Carl F. Kantola she served the New York to Chicago market. In 1935 she was pulled back and given a change to her drive wheels and fitted with the Timkin roller bearings.

She hauled famous trains like the 20th Century limited for most of her career. In the end she would also be the only NYC locomotive to be streamlined twice. in 1938; the bathtub of a streamline casing was removed and she was refitted with the Henry Dreyfuss streamlining. One of the most iconic streamlining, the spartan helmet hudsons and renumbered to 5344.

Ultimately #5344 would be scrapped in 1957 as the diesels were already on the stage and taking over the rail roads. The Commodore is a J1E Hudson that has been streamlined & upgraded.

What in the tub?

4 Commodore Vanderbilt locomotives to choose from!

– The original Commodore Vanderbilt 1934 with standard gear & spoke wheels.
– The refitted Commodore Vanderbilt in 1935 with Scullin Disc Drivers & Timkin rollerbearing gear.
– The Admiral Gris- my personal locomotive in the 1935 configuration with color scheme to match the grey NYC heavy weight pullman cars by meatballhero retextured by Ponga.
– The recolorable Commodore Vanderbilt set in the 1935 configuration with what a lot of people including my self thought the locomotive had for color, that soft sky blue. I actually like this in dark red personally.

– Custom sounds by Mr. Cheesecake
– Modelcitizen couplers
– 7 different camera angles
– All locomotives have a corresponding asset!
– 4 LODs to help with poly count & reducing pc stress on your end.

Whats coming up?

Well as the Hudson series comes to a successful conclusion, look out for the last 2 Hudsons coming out! The Dreyfuss Hudson, and the famed Empire State Express 1941! I hope you enjoy these engines as much as I am.
Thank you to various people like Meatballhero for the continued assistance when I needed it, and a few reusable parts from the Berkshire. To INewYorkCentral for more information and research of the Commodore, and lastly Lskeetskeet for the incredible screenshots you see here!

Heads up-

From this point, please understand that my mods are rather heavy either in poly or texture count. I put a lot of effort into these, to make them as best as I can to be enjoyed. Sorry if you don’t have enough disk space, or computer power to run these.
