Description:

Hello, Welcome to Freyr’s Legacy: An Alt history EU4 mod.

This is my very first EU4 mod, which I have worked on for a few months now.

This mod is not intended to be historically accurate. It is just based on a concept that I find very interesting.

Credits:
  • HUGE thanks to Farya Faraji who made ALL of the music in the mod: Farya Faraji
  • I have ABSOLUTELY NO drawing or graphical skills. So most of the flags and terrains are generated by A.I. Specifically Craiyon[www.craiyon.com]
  • Thank you to Dovska for a tutorial about how to make EU4 thumbnails: Dovska

A little backstory:

The mod’s very essence is the legacy of, well… Freyr, who is a Varangian bodyguard for the Eastern Roman Emperor. Freyr finds himself in a precarious position. The Eastern Roman Empire has just finished a brutal civil war, which forced the Empire to give up vast territories. The Eastern Roman Emperor was one of the worst emperors in the history of the Empire’s existence. He was cruel, brutal, and wildly unpopular among the people.

After some time, Freyr became more and more interested in Greco-Roman culture and tradition. He even participated in many of these traditions. He grew to love these people, cherish them. He wanted to protect them, even more than the Emperor whom he was hired to protect. The Emperor abused many people whom Freyr saw as friends. It all eventually boiled over when the Emperor got mad at a servant and began to punish her, even ordered her execution.

When Freyr saw this, he became so enraged that he killed the Emperor. When the deed was done and Freyr came to his senses, he knew the magnitude of his action. There was no claimant to the throne, no heir, no brother, no sister, or cousin. The stability and security of the Empire were in jeopardy. He knew he had to do something, so he took the mantle, proclaimed himself the Emperor of the Romans.

Will he succeed or will he fail and suffer a horrible fate?

Features:
  • A brand new mission tree for the Eastern Roman Empire with over 70+ missions
  • A new idolization government mechanic for the Eastern Roman Empire
  • Two new government reforms for the Eastern Roman Empire
  • Over 35 new events.
  • 5 new buildings.
  • 19 new nations (only 1 is playable though).
  • New decisions for the Eastern Roman Empire.
  • 3 new terrain types, including a special terrain type for Constantinople.
  • A whole new culture group.
  • Multiple cultural assimilation events.
  • 2 new subject types.
  • 9 songs from the amazing artist Farya Faraji (Check him out: Farya Faraji )

Required DLCs:

This mod has been made alongside every single major EU4 DLC, with the exception of the Origins DLC. This means that some features might not work properly if all of the required DLCs aren’t present.

Mod Compatability:

I have only tested my mod with Trade Goods Expanded active. This is noit fully compatible however, since the buildings that Trade Goods Expanded adds gets overwritten by my mod.
I have not tested any other mods compatibility with mine… You could always try different mods out to test yourself, but you should assume that no mod is compatible with mine.

The Mods Future:

Currently, I have no plans to stop development of the mod; however, I am still in the middle of my studies, which means that development might be hindered in some way, shape, or form.

A lot of adjustments and balancing will have to be made. Many of the national ideas and government mechanic bonuses are either OP or relatively unbalanced. If you have recommendations, then I am open to them, like all critique.

Thank you so much for you time, I really hope that you enjoy my mod. If you have any feedback, then feel free to give me a comment on the mod page.
