Description:

Another request for a user, this here skin pack represents skins from the Rhodesian Bush War, spanning the years 1964 through 1979. It’s certainly odd to see me producing Cold War-era skins, so don’t expect me to be doing this very often. Anyhow, the pack includes a wide variety of skins for both the Rhodesian Security Forces and the Zimbabwean forces. I got a little tired of modelling field kit, so they aren’t quite as varied as they were in the real world with a wide array of foreign pattern webbing.

BW – Rhodesian Officer

  • Not a very common sight on the front lines of the Bush War, especially in such a fancy dress. Most officers would have worn less-revealing options. However, I wanted to model the dress uniform of a Rhodesian officer – this one specially is for the Rhodesian SAS.

BW – Rhodesian Soldier

  • Just a generic Rhodesian Troopie, he sports a rucksack, blanket roll, a classic ball cap with a tail, and the fancy Rhodesian boots. He’s wearing PT shorts in order to stay cool while in the heat of the mighty African sun.

BW – American Volunteer

  • Various Americans (among other nationalities) made their way to Rhodesia to volunteer and help fight against the Communist forces, he has brought his old Vietnam helmet with the Mitchell-pattern camouflage cover. To make life easier, he has a pack of cigarettes on his helmet, just for an added feeling of home.

BW – African Rifles

  • The African Rifles were a special unit in Rhodesia consisting of black soldiers, this one in specific boasts a green brimmed hat similar in style to the Australian slouch hats. This was unlikely to have seen use in battle, however I figured the hat was iconic enough to let him stand out.

BW – ZANLA

  • This African soldier’s equipment is lacking compared to his Rhodesian counterpart, he sports just a Chinese chest rig and that is all. However, he sports a unique jacket clad in the East German ‘Rain’ or ‘Strichtarn’ camouflage pattern. I found this jacket from an internet post – showing both a soldier wearing it, and the original piece. I was unaware of this pattern making its way down to this part of the world, however such an interesting (possibly hand-made) piece was something I wanted to replicate.

This is a multiskin I commissioned from Chai. With this system, you are able to configure the multiskin to a much greater extent.

There are several options to choose from when you enter the configuration panel; the first and main one are the team choices; they will be listed as: Eagle Version and Raven Version. Your choices on the dropdown box are as follows:

  • None
    • This means there will be no skins at all for that team, you can choose whatever skin you want from the default skin selector for that team or leave them as the default team colors. This means you can combine this with other multiskin systems as well.
  • Rhodesian Security Forces
    • This setting enables the Rhodesian Forces to replace whatever team you specified them for. It includes a good array of skins, ranging from officers to troopies and even a Selous Scout.
  • Rhodesian Security Forces – No Officer
    • Much like the above, except the officer is removed for those who would want a more historically authentic experience and not have a man wearing a long wool jacket in a dark color in the middle of summer.
  • ZANLA
    • These are the African soldiers/militia that the Rhodesians were fighting against, their equipment is very mixed and they sport a variety of civilian and military kit. Some of them are based on period photographs, whereas others are a mix of random kit that would be accurate for the time period.

Enable Custom Player Skin
It’s just a tickbox; click it if you want to enable you to change your skin to whatever you want.

Player Skin
This is a dropbown box of different skins to choose from the mutator; so that if you don’t want to have a custom skin – you can manually choose from here. I won’t go into specifics; the names should be easily understood. Make sure to select a skin in the default skin selector, multiskins cannot replace the arm and kick models.

  • Chai‘s custom multiskin system; thank you so much!
