Description:
BlackFox’s Operation Fennec
Why?

I’ve wanted to create something like this for a long time, because I’m a very, very big fan of Western Sahara CDLC, but if I could change something, I would swap US Forces for French. US forces are in every gosh darn DLC for 2035 xD. And I believe French forces fit very well as a NATO faction in West Africa.
You can look up Operation Serval if you want to know why I personally think so.

More Then Just Re-textures

I decided to make this mod something more interesting than just a retexture. That’s why each faction gets unique weapons (which I made by kitbashing existing weapons and adjusting their stats) and I did the same with vehicles by modifying base Arma vehicles.

Pls note that some of these things I did with the thought that I want to use them in future campaigns, so some things may not make sense by them self.

3 Factions:
  1. Groupement Tactique Interarmes Fennec (GTIA Fennec) – French combined arms group. The group was formed when US forces supporting UNA operations in the Sefrou-Ramal area discovered SIRA units moving into the UNA operation area. GTIA Fennec aims to restore order so that IDAP and UNA are allowed to perform their humanitarian missions in Wester Sahara region.
  2. Saharan Independent Revolutionary Army (SIRA) – A paramilitary formation formed by a mixture of deserters from the armies of several countries in the region of northern and western Africa and local fighters mobilized from the regions they conquered. They have both well-organized units derived from deserted units using Belarusian AK pattern rifles, tanks and IFVs, as well as poorly equipped bands of fighters armed with captured weapons and nothing more than a pick-up with a heavy machine gun. They see themselves as "liberators" of the Sahara from global powers such as the US, UN and CSAT. As such they are willing to fight any government or any group they see as associated with these global powers.
  3. Private Military Company Red Wolf (Red Wolf PMC) – A private military company from South Africa. They specialize in protection in areas threatened by terrorism and social instability, but they also have a small assault team capable of fighting paramilitary formations and a special group for operations requiring discretion and the ability to operate behind enemy lines. They employ people from South Africa, parts of Eastern Europe, northern Kazakhstan and veterans from several Middle Eastern countries. They are often seen protecting the installations that are part of
development investments from CSAT countries. In addition, they have a small wing of light tactical aircraft, although these are nominally only used for aggressor training.
Other Minor Things Related To Factions
  • UNA faction receives some additional vehicles and units. Mostly for purposes of Warlords scenarios but they are there if you want them for something else.
  • Tura, SIRA and Red Wolf Factions receive "randomized" units. Units which have been set up to have randomized gear each and every time they are spawned. Pls note that headgear for those units may not show up in editor.
  • All custom units receive some levels of procedural generation. Some will spawn with diffrent uniforms each time. Some may have diffrent optics or head gear each time. For theese units procedural generation is made to be broken the moment player adjust their gear in arsenal in editor.

  13. One of a Kind – Fly into Sefrou-Ramal in Mi-48 helicopter gunship and help PMCs evacuate the camps under attack by SIRA. [player faction: Red Wolf]
  14. Air Supremacy – Take to the skies in multirole combat aircraft and oblitarate Red Wolf assets on the ground and in the air. [player faction: GTIA Fennec]
13 Multiplayer Scenarios (+COOP Versions of SP ones)
  • Popular Uprising Scanario – Cooperative Scenario in which players join SIRA militans using randomized gear to liberate town from control of the BLUFOR faction.
  • 5 Support Scenarios – Standard Arma 3 gamemode based around assisting ground forces by providing helicopter support.
  • 4 Warlords Scanarios – Standard Arma 3 gamemode in which players capture enemy controlled settlements until one of the starting bases is taken.
  • 2 Rocket Safari Scanarios – Cooperative gamemode in which players use rangefinders and unguided launchers to hunt down enemy armored vehicles.
  • + 13 SP Scenarios – All single player scenarios are playable in COOP with exeption of Rocket Safari as COOP has its 2 dedicated equivalents.

As one might guess, all these scenarios have some elements of procedural generation in them.

Plans for the Future

I hope in the future to use this mod to create no less than 3 three relatively short campaigns (about 4-7 mission long each), but not in the near future (because I’m tired of looking at the sand at the moment).

Things that are not as the should be right now…

Something still need either imrovement or are just placeholders.
Many of the UI elements are placeholders for now and no custom editor previews are currently available (sorry).
And maybe there are some bugs that I don’t yet know of (let me now in comments below if you encouter any).
Also I’m not good at graphics stuff so textures are in category of "it is what it is" atleast for now.
Furthermore I profoundly do not understand inheritance system in Arma configs. I think I made it work but I’m sure not in the way I was suppou
