Description:
"The Future is now, Giant man. *BANG!* " Thosom Tom to a Cantor.

This mod adds in a much requested weapon, Fire Arms! Yes, yes. You now can make muskets, and make all your pike and shot/Napoleonic era battles a real thing in Songs of Syx! And, not to mention I have also merged this mod with my Cannon Mod. So now you not only can enjoy shooting at your enemies with boom sticks, but now you can shoot them with a big cannon to boot!

And whats this? A new weapon of war enters the battlefield, the venerable and equally as terrible Gatling gun, lay waste to your enemies tightly packed formations of armored Cantors with a hail of lead!

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE GAMES MECHANICS AS OF NOW, AND ITS LIMITED MODDING FRAMEWORK SURROUNDING THE AI. YOU MIGHT ABSOLUTELY STOMP THE ENEMY, OR YOU WILL GET STOMPED WITHOUT MERCY.
GAMEPLAY NOTES

  • The fearsome Gatling Gun enters the battlefield. Keep your distance! While it packs a heavy punch that even fully armored cantors cannot hope to survive, it has a small limited range. Use this to your advantage!
  • Muskets do superb damage! with over 8 pierce damage at 1 equipment, all the way up to 25 pierce! Even fully armored Humans can be killed with one shot, and even the dreaded Armored Cantors are no longer safe once these weapons enter the battlefield!
  • Muskets are ideal for quickly arming your peasants, a poorly trained conscript unit with 2 pips of equipment has the range capable of skirmishing with the enemy
  • Muskets are a complicated thing to produce, so your Gunsmiths can only make a small amount with a costly price at the start. But research can lower down costs and increase production.
  • Enemies may also use these weapons for their own in battle, keep in mind. Due to the nature of the game as of now. The enemy can, and WILL MOST LIKELY. Use muskets even before you have them researched, and there is no way for me to balance this as modding framework sadly cannot support such a thing. So keep this in mind!

COMBAT NOTES
  • Firearms have the advantage over bows in terms of damage and versatility. Even a poorly trained musketeer can do reliable damage if you have enough of them in a line. But in the grand scheme of things, musketeers are out ranged by trained bowmen.
  • Remember that Firearms are inaccurate. Keep your melee troops at the back of the musketeers but close enough to protect them. As when they unleash a volley, friendly fire can happen. And such an accident will most likely kill a lot of your own soldiers if you do not pay attention to positioning!
  • Remember that you will need a lot of musketeers to do reliable damage to the enemy. Since because of their inaccurate shots, you will only get consistent results by using them in mass.
  • Muskets take a while longer than bows to actually fire, even with fully trained musketeers. Bowmen can still beat them in fire rate.
  • Firearms slow down your soldiers a lot! and drastically reduce their melee abilities. Remember to keep them in a safe position. If they get flanked or be forced to fight in close quarters they will most likely be killed!

To Arms!
