Description:

Squigly, the graceful and resilient undead opera singer from Skullgirls, has joined the battle in Rivals of Aether! With her local companion Leviathan by her side, Squigly brings a unique blend of elegance and deadly power to the roster. Her versatile moveset and terrifying long range attacks make her a formidable contender in any match, offering fans of both games an exciting crossover experience!

STANCE MECHANIC ~

Squigly’s core mechanic revolves around two stances: Strong Stance and Special Stance.
Charging one of your Specials or Strongs fills up the corresponding stance. Pressing Parry lets you store that charge.
When a stance is charged, the next time you use any move of that type it will consume the charge, giving you an enhanced version of the move.

The biggest payoff for having a stance charged is the ability to cancel on hit from any move directly into these charged attacks — opening up devastating combo routes.

STRONG STANCE ~

Having Strong Stance charged provides these benefits:

Ustrong becomes a massive, powerful two-hit attack.

Fstrong gains significantly more distance and active frames.

Dstrong also gains increased active frames.

Grants access to a special Airstrong, which has a sweet spot that stuns opponents and allows for nasty follow-ups!

SPECIAL STANCE ~

Having Special Stance charged grants the following bonuses:

Nspecial (both versions) become stronger and gain one hit of super armor.

Dspecial (ground) now homes directly under the opponent’s location instead of needing manual placement.

Dspecial (air) transforms into a devastating command grab.

Uspecial gains access to the coffin when holding down the button — this is the only special move that doesn’t automatically consume charge when used.

TIPS AND TRICKS!

Squigly’s gameplan focuses on creating the space she needs to build up her stances.
Once you have either stance charged — or both — you become a true threat.

Both the Airstrong and Nspecial (air version) can be used as a semi-float, making it easier to build stance charges in neutral while also improving her neutral, advantage, and disadvantage states.

The Airstrong’s float is weaker than Nspecial’s, but that’s because the Airstrong lets you turn around mid-attack, enabling all sorts of mix-ups while approaching.

Airstrong also has the unique property of being completely projectile-immune during its active and recovery frames!

The Stancel mechanic lets you take full advantage of these movement options.

Dspecial (air) and Fspecial restore your double jump on hit — crucial for combo extensions.

Holding in during the startup of dspecial charged will make the tail shoot out inwards instead of outwards.

Finally, remember:

Always experiment with which cancels flow best into each other to unlock her full potential.
