Description:

Goal:

This mod overhauls the level up rewards for various unit types with the aim of increasing unit type identity by allowing them to excel in specific roles as they gain experience.
It achieves this through adding a champion level up reward to each unit, as well as swapping some others around.
The goal is to provide a fair and ideally balanced experience that rewards players that manage to keep their troops alive to the higher experience levels, while spicing up combat and increasing the viability of high level but low tier units.

New level up rewards:
All Units:
Legend Medal: Legend (+10 Morale)

Shield Unit: Melee support tank, balanced defender, deflects frontal attacks
Elite Medal: Defence +1 (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Deflection* (Mod* +2 Defence and +1 Resistance against non-flanking attacks)
Legend Medal: Exalted Defence (Bolsters defence of nearby units when entering defense mode, unchanged) + Defender (Mod* Adjacent friendly units gain: +1 Defense +0 Resistance)

Shock Unit (Infantry): Front line breaker, chain kills for maximum carnage
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Brutal (Mod* Ignore up to 2 defense)
Legend Medal: Grim Executioner (When this unit kills another, it gains 3 Fortune) + Killing Momentum (Refresh 1 action point on kill, replaced +20% Critical)

Shock Unit (Cavalry): Back line sweeper, break through lines for devastating flanking charges
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Charge (Mod* Sprint ability, Cooldown 2)
Legend Medal: Aggressive Tactician (Mod* +35% flanking damage, replaced +20% Critical)

Polearm: Versatile infantry with powerful defensive stances, excel against large targets
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Defense Mode* (Mod* When in Defense Mode, this unit has +3 Retaliation Attacks up to 3 max) + Push Back (Mod* Full action, No cooldown, Ends turn in Defense Mode, Deals damage and pushes non-Large enemy units away in a 1-hex cone.)
Legend Medal: Opportunity Attack (Mod* Single action, No cooldown, Does not trigger retaliation, Ignore 50% Defense +20% critical chance, Ends turn in Defense Mode, replaced +1 Retaliation) + Defense Mode** (Mod* When in Defense Mode, Retaliation attacks have piercing; Ignore 50% Defense.)

Skirmisher: Ultimate flanker, use mobility to outmanoeuvre and strike into defensive formations.
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Sprint (Mod* Sprint ability, Cooldown 1) + Obscured (Mod* Unit has +15% Evasion)
Legend Medal: Ambusher (Mod* +20% flanking damage, replaced sprint) + Weak Point (Mod* +20% damage against units in Guard Mode.)

Ranged: Ultimate ranged precision, take out priority targets from afar
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Eagle Eye (+1 Range +10% Accuracy)
Legend Medal: Sniper (+30% Accuracy, was +1 Range)

Battle Mage: Ranged damage dealer, blast down enemies with critical casts
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: War mage (+15% Critical damage +15% Critical damage chance, note: ranged critical chance is limited by accuracy)
Legend Medal: Bypass resistance 2 and Status resistance 2 (patched, game files had resistance 1)

Scout: Ultimate utility, useful as vanguard or army support
Soldier Medal: Expedition Leader (Mod* While army leader, all non-Hero units in the army gain: +2 Experience each turn.)
Veteran Medal: Sprint (was Legendary medal.) + Razor Net (Mod* Single action, Range 4, Cooldown 1, Can’t be used when engaged, 90% chance to inflict immobilized for 1 turn.)
Elite Medal: Survivalists (Mod* Grants Quick Escape to all units in the army; +20% escape on rout chance, this can stack. Replaces Evasion) + Wary (Mod* Unit has +1 Vision and +1 Sensing range.)
Champion Medal: Resourceful (Mod* All units in the army have gold and mana upkeep reduced by 12.5%, doesn’t stack) + Wary (Mod* Unit has +1 Vision and +1 Sensing range.)
Legend Medal: Spy Networks (Mod* All units in the army have Universal Camouflage)

Support: Battlefield buffer, defensive masters warding nearby troops from enemy magic attacks
Elite Medal: +1 Resistance (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Spellwarden (Mod* +0 Defense +3 Resistance against non-flanking attacks)
Legend Medal: Exalted Resistance (Bolsters resistance of nearby units when entering defence mode, unchanged) + Spellshield (Mod* Adjacent friendly units gain: +0 Defense +1 Resistance)

Fighter: Melee duellist, ultimate one on one melee combatant
Elite Medal: Damage +10% (unchanged)
Champion Medal: Unyielding (Mod* Retaliation attacks +1) + Alert (Mod* +5 Defence +5 Resistance against retaliation and opportunity attacks)
Legend Medal: Martial expertise (Mod* +3 Defense +3 Resistance against non-flanking attacks, was Brawler Medal +10 health +1 Def)

Mythic: Battlefield terror sends enemies fleeing, damage dealer, swings the tide of battle.
Elite Medal: Mythic (+10% Damage, +1 Defense, +1 Resistance, unchanged) + Intimidating Aura (At the end of this unit’s turn, adjacent enemy units have a base 90% of losing -5 Morale. Doesn’t affect Tier V and hero units.)
Champion Medal: Vicious Killer (Deals double morale damage on killing an enemy) + Cunning (+15% Critical damage +15% Critical damage chance, was Killing momentum)
Legend Medal: Ancient (Mod* +10% damage, +2 Defense, +2 Resistance.) + Nemesis (Mod* Attacks have a base 90% chance of inflicting Demoralized; -5 Morale for 3 turns, stacks up to 5 times, Only applies to first attack in a series.)

Compatibility:
Only the base game is required.
This mod is compatible with all base game Languages.
This mod overwrites the ‘core unit – type’ entries in the UnitTypes_Definitions.rpk and will not be compatible with any other mod that edits the same data.
Realistically this will only be mods that also edit the medals for units on a unit type by unit type basis i.e. all shock units, or all shield units.
