The Monster Savant Mod **Re-Upload**

Possessing an abundant, overwhelming interest in monsters, the so-called Monster Savant has been drawn to the Hamlet more by his own curiosity than a sense of justice or promise of coin. Though he seems an ideal leader at first glance, his utter lack of social skills and insistence on practicing "Dungeon Cuisine" using the remains of the nightmarish creatures that threaten the Hamlet leads to rifts easily forming between him and those he would share a party with. Regardless, his worth is undeniable, sporting impressive swordsmanship and physicality, skills in the mystic arts, and an intimate knowledge of all manner of monsters and their weaknesses.

=====Overview=====

Based on Laios Touden from the Manga and soon to be Anime Dungeon Meshi, The Monster Savant is a veritable swiss army knife of a class, possessing a well rounded kit that lets him easily fit into any party. However, this utility comes at the cost of him being only truly effective against Non-Humans and many of his abilities stressing out his party members both in battle and at camp.

The Monster Savant brings no provisions with him on expeditions, but as he learned more of monsters, he developed an interest in how they might taste and indulges in this pursuit by gathering what usable meat he can from the creatures after each battle.

On Crit, the Monster Savant gains 33% stress resist for 3 turns.

The Monster Savant is not religious and uses the Outsider’s Bonfire.

His Camping Skills have powerful self stress healing and stress resistance and can give allies powerful buffs, but all have a chance of stressing the rest of the party.

Prime Cut

Basic melee attack, deals bonus damage to Beast and Eldritch, but less damage to Humans.

Dog Impression

Debuffs the damage and crit chance of all enemies for 3 rounds, but Marks the Monster Savant and has a high chance to stress other party members.

Horse Hobbler

OOOX | OOXX
Stuns and reduces speed. Lower than average stun chance, but has a +20% stun chance against Beasts. Moves the Monster Savant forward by 1. Deals less damage to Humans.

Monster Knowledge

Gives the whole Party buffs for 1 battle, increasing Crit chance against all non-humans, ACC against Beasts, stress resist against Eldritch, and armor piercing against Unholy. Can only be used once per battle.

Healing Magic

Moderate heal and Cure Bleed on target, with a chance of inflicting stress.

Retreat & Rethink

XOOO | OOOX
Low damage ranged attack that moves the Monster Savant back by 1 and buffs Stun chance, Debuff chance, and Healing done on next round.

Indominable

Self
Moderate heal and cure Bleed, Blight, and Horror and activate riposte. Riposte deals no damage but heals the Monster Savant. Riposte lasts 1 round. Has a 3 Round cooldown between uses.

Unshakeable Leader, I Guess

Cost: 1
Increases stress resist by 25% for 4 battles, but has a 50% chance stressing all allies by 4.

Delicious in Dungeon

Cost: 3
Reduces the Monster Savant’s stress by 10, restores 10% of his HP, and produces a random amount of food, but stress allies by 3 with a 50% chance to take an additional 4 stress damage.

Unhealthy Obsession

Cost: 4
Reduces the Monster Savant’s Stress by 30 and grants him +20% PROT for 4 battles, but other party members take 10 stress and roll a chance to gain +20% PROT against Beast, Eldritch, or Unholy enemies, or take an additional 10 stress damage.

Roll a chance to increase an ally’s Crit chance against Beast, Eldritch, or Unholy by +10% or deal 5 stress damage.

Someone’s going to ask so, "Monster Savant" is the most polite, but accurate way to describe Laios as a character I could think of.

I’d prefer if you ask if you want to upload this mod anywhere else or make changes to it, but I really don’t mind as long as I’m credited.

I stand by my decision to keep the janky looking town event art because I think it’s funny.

Most dialogue is sourced directly from the manga (EHScans), but since it’s out of character for Laios to be Abusive, I had to write that bit myself, which is why it sucks so bad.
