As Toyotomi Hideyoshi strengthened his grip on dominance over Japan, he commenced the construction of Osaka Castle in 1583. The splendorous castle was built with all kinds of luxuries, and it was said to have a tea house built of pure gold. Nonetheless, after Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s death, the Toyotomi clan declined and Tokugawa Ieyasu invaded Osaka Castle. Though the Toyotomi clan rallied daimyos still loyal to the Toyotomi clan and recruited ronins (lordless samurais), the defenders were eventually overwhelmed by the Tokugawa forces, resulting in the demise of the Toyotomi clan and the unification of Japan under the Tokugawa regime. Tokugawa Hidetada, the successor of Tokugawa Ieyasu, reconstructed Osaka Castle. The rebuilt Osaka Castle have withstood many destructions and undergone many restorations, and now stands as the most prominent landmark and tourist attraction of Osaka.

Osaka Castle

Grants 5 Ronins, and may purchase additional Ronins with Gold in this city. Provides the same defensive bonuses as the Fort improvement. Must be built adjacent to the City Center. +2 Amenities +6 Gold Unlocked at the Gunpowder technology.

Ronin

Melee unit unique to the civilization with the Osaka Castle wonder. Can only be purchased with Gold. Does not suffer combat penalties when damaged. +10 Combat Strength when fighting units with a higher base Combat Strength.

Supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese.
