Eastern Pacific is my fictional company.

After weeks of work on these articulated locomotives and design options to choose, its finally here!

IMPORTANT! The Challenger is made by me, not by jeranios63’s A-9 Challenger.

History

The J-100’s (Challengers) were by built by the American Locomotive Company between 1936 & 1939 for the Eastern Pacific Railroad, they were numbered 4200 through 4299. The J-100’s were use for Freight Service between California and Nevada until AC-13 Cab Foward took over the assignment in 1944, so the J-100 were reassign to pull freight trains at the Rio Grande Division and as well pulling passenger trains when needed, the J-100 would be retired by EP between 1958 & 1959, 8 Challengers preserved, which is 4211, 4212, 4248, 4223, 4274, 4202, 4267, and 4209.

The M-100’s were also built by the American Locomotive Company between 1941 & 1943 for the Eastern Pacific Railroad, they were numbered from 4300 through 4360, they mainly use for Freight Trains based of the design from Union Pacific’s famous Big Boys, they were originally burn coal, but they converted to burn oil in 1944 to increase their route capability, the M-100’s retired by EP between 1958 & 1959, only 1 M-100 have survived, no. 4352 was donated to the IRM by the Eastern Pacific in 1960, as of today 4352 still remains on display at the IRM.

The AC-13’s is a concept design that was never ordered by the Southern Pacific, however that would changed in 1944 when EP ordered the AC-13’s from the Baldwin Locomotive Works between 1944 & 1945. they were numbered 4361 through 4419, they were use for Freight Trains between California & Nevada, a same assignment from the FG 6-4-4-6 Duplexes and the J-100 Challengers. following at the end of the war they reassign to helper service to the 6-4-4-6 duplexes until 1958 when all of them were retired, 2 AC-13’s preserved, no. 4414 was preserved by EP, and its was donated to the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis Missouri and it was restored to operational condition in 2002 by TMEP for their steam program. no. 4376 was preserved by the Rail Giants Train Museum as they requested one of EP’s Cab Forwards for display, today 4414 is currently being under going for its FRA 15 Year Old Overhaul, and its currently be expected to return to operation in 2024, and 4376 still remains on display at the Rail Giants Train Museum.
