Description:

From Alan Becker’s Animator vs. Animation series, Yellow joins Rivals! His moveset is based on the Animation vs. Minecraft spinoff series, using various items and weapons taken from iconic moments in the show.

His skins are all different recolored stick figs from the show – so you can play as Red, Blue, Green, Purple, and even other minor characters from the shorts! (No TSC / TCO / etc… yet? Maybe in the future as another character.)

Taunt in Practice Mode to read info about his attacks ingame, as well as view frame data, patch notes, and other info.

Download his stage, based on King Orange’s bastion from AvM, here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3080757417 It has unique interactions with this character and even a cool boss fight, so check it out!

Key Moves

USpecial is a command grab with a fishing rod. Press A and a direction after grabbing an opponent to perform one of four different directional throws, or press jump to footstool off of the enemy to easily recover offstage.

DSpecial has you throw a minecart forward as a projectile. It goes much further when used on the ground, thanks to adding a powered rail.

FSpecial uses a dispenser filled with arrows. They’re weak on their own, but they deal tons of hitstun to open up combo routes.

FTilt is a two-part attack, and you can angle the second hit up or down for different attacks.

UStrong’s hitbox becomes much larger the more you charge it.

Command Block Staff

Yellow’s NSpecial has him pull out the powerful Command Block Staff weapon. This acts like a stance change and gives him an entirely different moveset filled with powerful attacks. However, its use is limited by the meter above his head, which refills over time only after you have fully depleted it. You can unequip the staff by using NSpecial again. NSpecial has literally no lag, and you can even use it during other actions (like attacks or dodges) to toggle the staff form whenever you want.

In training mode, taunt and go to the Cheats menu to enable infinite meter.

When holding the staff, DSpecial is a TNT trap. On the ground, hold the button to add a longer Redstone Repeater line and delay the explosion. The TNT can be grabbed by the normal DSpecial or the staff FSpecial, and it detonates early when you attack it with the Redstone Blocks from aerial attacks in staff mode.

FTilt, UTilt, and DTilt while holding the staff all create lines of cobblestone blocks. These act as a platform and stick around for a little while. You can use a tilt attack while the cobblestone is still around to move the existing cobblestone in that direction, hitting enemies who are near it even if you’re far away. DStrong also creates cobblestone that can be manipulated with the tilts, but DStrong itself cannot manipulate existing cobblestone; it always makes new blocks instead.

The staff FStrong is an insanely slow attack, acting more like a Falcon Punch than a regular strong. However, if you charge the move, you can spawn arrows that fire when you release the charge. As long as you have at least a few arrows, their hitstun will combo into the staff swing, so the huge startup becomes less of a problem.

Abyss Runes

Yellow has a full set of Abyss Runes. One of them allows you to infinitely use the Command Block Staff without worrying about the meter. For the rest of them, before the character was revealed, I asked people (who didn’t know anything about the character) to give me ideas for Abyss Runes, and then I added them to the character. So most of them are pretty random, and some of them give pretty funny results. One of them is literally just completely useless. Have fun

Notice

If your game crashes when trying to change skins, unfortunately that’s a Rivals bug that happens sometimes with workshop characters. It’s inconsistent between different people and nobody knows how to reliably fix it. I hear it might have something to do with your save file and whether or not you’ve bought DLC, but nobody knows the exact conditions where it happens.

You can try this fix: https://steamcommunity.com/app/383980/discussions/2/4030223299347851882/
