Divide et Impera (unofficial) submod – Classical Empires: Campaign Overhaul
Hi guys! Thank you for taking the time to tune in!
First of all, to the DEI Devs, you made a far more balanced campaign than I could hope for in my own modding. This mod isn’t a critique of campaign mechanics, even when it changes them a fair bit.
For example, I have increased agriculture GDP for all factions, to represent the disproportionate income production ancient people derived from agriculture (without making farms OP). Or for example, I overhauled completely general attributes and leveling up. I also increased base income for all factions, especially the major hellenic factions, which get eaten alive (coughs in Seleucid and Antigonid, laughs in Ptolemaic/Baktrian until Rome/Parthia enters the convo)
Reworked General Attributes: Cunning gives campaign related bonuses (line of sight, ambush chance), while authority translates in more effective battle units. Zeal improves the fighting ability of the general.
Massively increased skill requirements for leveling up characters and forces, so that your generals really feel more valuable.
Nerfed traits and ancillaries giving attribute points: it was far too easy to level up and gain 10-10-10 attributes
Many other small, quality of life improvements done: more detailed changelog to follow
Upcoming update:reworked dignitary, champion, spy attributes: giving them unique bonuses and tradeoffs when including them in the army vs deploying them. General attributes will also impact governorship ability, for example: a cunning general of high enough level will upgrade the region’s sanitation. Reworked character skill and army traditions when appropriate, to make each choice feel worth making
