Description:

An ancient elemental lizard residing in the volcano at the heart of Aether. Fiercly territorial, will go to great extents to rid of any intruders on his home turf

During the Aetherian war of the forest, as Sylvanos sought to expand his domain to all of Aether, Rhyolis awoke from his slumber. Enraged by his rogue bretheren, the volcanic beast confronted Sylvanos to defend his turf, to fight back against his kin gone wild. Having driven Sylv back into the forest, Rhyolis retreats into the heart of the volcano once more, ready to awaken should his territory be threatened again.

Mechanics/Gimmicks

Rhyolis relies on covering the stage in solidified magma terrain to empower attacks and establish stage presence.

Magma Terrain: Many of Rhyolis’s attacks create solidified magma on stage surfaces. This terrain can be utilised by various moves to empower or interact with them. Terrain will disappear after a set time if not used. Opponents who get spiked into terrain and miss a tech will get hit by an explosive hitbox.

Molten Eruptions: NSpecial fires a molten rock which explodes soon after hitting a surface. If the rock lands on magma terrain, it creates a wave of eruptions that propogates along the surface, dealing damage as it travels. The final eruption upon reaching the edge of the terrain is much larger and more powerful.

Ring of Fire: DSpecial is a vertical dive that gets more powerful the more magma terrain is on stage. Upon using DSpecial, all magma terrain on stage gets consumed, knocking opponents upwards in the process. Therer are 3 strength levels of DSpecial, the strongest being granted full super armour during the dive and creating a enormous blast hitbox when landing.

Other mechanics:

FSpecial is a horizontal lunge that can be shield canceled during the launch phase, will normally put into pratfall unless the launch hits an opponent. FSpecial can be empowered if performed when standing on terrain, makes the move travel further, never goes into pratfall, and finisher hitbox always spikes.

– Charging DStrong creates more magma terrain depending on charge amount.

– The launcher hit of UStrong can be reversed if the initial hitbox hits, able to catch opponents hard DIing in either direction.
