Awatsu

Deep in the heart of Aether lies a hidden mangrove forest. A beautiful place, teeming with lush flora, colorful fauna, and crystal clear water.

A certain creature resides within, acting as a guardian spirit to the creatures that call the forest home, protecting it from any dangers which dare encroach.

However, when a mysterious purple blight begins withering the roots of the trees, and when familiar creatures emerge corrupted and twisted, the only way to save the forest may be to embark on a journey to cleanse the source of this new evil…

Play as Awatsu, the saponaceous serpent! Use the power of soap to slide into victory!

Create bubbles using specials or normals, and use them to your advantage! Knock bubbles at foes for extra knockback and damage, or jump on them for extra height! Detonate them with neutral special or jab3 for maximum damage!

Bubbles are easily destroyed by enemies, popping at the first sign of a hitbox. Counter this by creating as many bubbles as possible!

– Small bubbles do not deal knockback, and do a small amount of damage
– Medium bubbles deal moderate knockback and damage
– Large bubbles deal high knockback and damage

If three bubbles of either tiny or small size get close enough, they will merge into a larger bubble!

Recovering
Use a combination of down special and up special, jumping off the down special bubble and medium bubble that forms after using up special

Chain Explosions
Use bubbles close to each other to detonate them in a chain

NAir Bubble Dragging
NAir as the ability to drag bubbles along during the move. Try catching opponents in the middle as well!

Active Ignition
Send a bubble through an explosion to activate the nitroglycerine within, causing it to explode as well!

Dash Attack Cancels
Cancel dash attack into up strong OR forward strong for a little bit more distance

Jab1->DTilt->FAir
A basic combo that also generates a medium bubble

UTilt->NAir->UAir
A grounded to aerial combo

BAir->Large Bubble Hit
A basic way to knock large bubbles into foes

FTilt->FStrong
A basic roll catch option utilising fstrong’s long active frames

UTilt->UAir->USpecial
An aerial combo with kill potential off the top blastzone

NSpecial (side)->Merge Explosion
A method of creating a large explosion immediately using two medium bubbles

DAir->Large Bubble Hit
A ranged spike using a bubble

Thank you so much for trying out Awatsu! The idea for this character was in my head since before Monarch was finished, but it wasn’t until the Rivals of Aether 2 Character Creation Contest[aetherstudios.com] was announced that I had the motivation to make them. This character was me taking all the lessons I’d learnt from the previous two characters and finding the best way to apply my skills to creating the best possible character, rather than pushing myself as far as I could go. It was a lot of fun to make, and this continues to be a great community to be a part of!
