Description:

War Is Politics
for Victoria 3 1.13.*

This mod adds some additional Approval modifiers to your interest groups that allow them to react somewhat to your Diplomatic Plays:

Action
Approves
Disapproves
Aggressive War
Jingoists, Bonapartists, Fascists, Armed Forces
Pacifists, Communists & Anarchists don’t like when you attack Council Republics.
Annexing/Reducing Autonomy of Subjects
Authoritarians, Fascists, Bonapartists, Vanguardists
Pacifists, Anarchists, Humanitarians
Ban Slavery
Any IG who is actively against Slave Trade.
Any IG who is actively against Slavery Banned.
Found Colony
Any IG who is actively in favor of Colonial Exploitation/Resettlement
Any IG who is actively against Colonial Affairs
Declare Independence
Some of your Primary Culture pops will become more loyal.

Countries will also be hit with a temporary Legitimacy penalty for backing down in a Diplo Play or losing a war. You will get a temporary Legitimacy buff for winning a war (enforcing your wargoals, not a white peace). Winning and losing wars will also impact the popularity of your Ruler and the Interest Groups in government.

The modifiers are set up to not stack with themselves, so you can’t wage war against a bunch of minor countries in a row and rack up a ton of free legitimacy/approval. If you get the same modifier again, it will just reset the decay time.

Known Limitations
The scripting support for diplomacy is unfortunately limited. For instance, Diplomatic Demands can’t be interacted with the same way as Diplomatic Plays, so if you demand slavery banned and the target accepts without causing a Play, your abolitionist IGs won’t take notice. I also wanted to have IGs react to a White Peace but there seems to be no way to distinguish between a victorious peace deal and a white peace. The mod also only applies to the initial demand of a play, and only for plays that you initiate yourself.

Compatibility
Does not modify any vanilla files. Should be compatible with anything that doesn’t replace the vanilla ideologies. Ideology triggers are stored in commonscripted_triggerswarispolitics_ig_triggers.txt, which can be overwritten by other mods to incorporate their ideologies into War is Politics.
