Description:

NOTE: It is recommended to back up your storage files before installing this mod. Extended Story is guaranteed to permanently alter your characters and universe.

This mod will no longer receive updates other than fixes to significant bugs. A reworked version of this mod, named "Voided", is under development.

INFO ABOUT CONTENT

Extended Story(ES) is a mod that mainly focuses on adding post-endgame content to your game. It also adds small amounts of content throughout vanilla Starbound’s story-line.
Currently, it adds:
14 boss encounters.
45+ new weapons to play with.
3 missions.
5 armor sets.
15 new tiles.
8 new biomes.
2 new weapon types: chain gun and slingshot.

HOW TO START

You do not need a new character to access any content. However, some content–such as biomes–will require traveling to unexplored regions of the map.
Post-endgame content starts when you defeat a Vault Guardian (the boss at the end of an Ancient Gateway vault). You will need to use a new crafting material that the Vault Guardian drops.

Spoilers: To get the Elemental Artifact quests, interact with the vault key trader after defeating the Ruinbuster.

COMPATIBILITY

The following is a list of mods that are categorized based on the severity of any conflicts that occur with ES and a given mod installed. As a disclaimer, a mod not being included on this list does not necessarily mean that ES is compatible with it. In addition, the category that each mod belongs to is subject to change.

No conflicts at all:
This category is included for mods whose compatibility with Extended Story is frequently brought up.

  • None

Minor conflicts:
This category includes mods that have conflicts significant enough to interfere with gameplay to any extent.

  • Frackin’ Universe: Modified SAIL does not show Extended Story missions. Revert to vanilla SAIL to fix this issue.

Moderate conflicts:
Mods that cause moderate conflicts can consistently cause the game to crash under specific circumstances. These crashes do not interfere with game progression.

  • Supper’s Combat Overhaul: Causes bosses not to function properly.

Severe conflicts:
Mods that cause severe conflicts are guaranteed to crash or softlock the game if it is started up with that mod and ES installed. Typically, these issues are resolved when mods in this category are uninstalled. Mods in this category can also cause permanent file damage under specific circumstances.

  • None

Destructive conflicts:
Mods in this category are included when they block access to any content and/or are likely to cause permanent file damage. The same applies for when ES causes those mods to have blocked off content.

  • Factions: Removes the Mysterious Artifact from the Vault Guardian drop pool.

Unknown source conflicts:
Conflicts where the conflicting mod is unknown.

  • None

Other conflicts:
Conflicts that do not fit within a certain category or the criteria that the conflict meets has not been decided yet.

  • None

If you have a bug that falls under the "unknown source conflicts" category, please try to find which mod is causing the conflict.
