Amanita
Somewhere the wandering mycowitch stirs…

After surviving the rampage of Sylvanos on the forest floor, running for safety, the young doe found herself embraced by a mysterious cave. Corrupted by the cave’s spore magic, Amanita’s new fungal abilities come at a price. Her mind warped to be obsessed with power, she covets the strength that destroyed her people. Making plans to infect, control, and command the great gods and beasts of Aether, she walks the lands, searching for great battles that may involve the powers she seeks.
Enjoy a new alternative win portrait for amanita when using skin #8! Additionally, a large update to her puppet strongs have been added! Happy lunar new year!

Amanita’s gameplay style revolves around her use of the sporeling puppet. While she is a capable warrior on her own, weaving in between summoning sporelings, to taking care of business by herself is the core of the way she likes to play. Amanita may appeal to you if you prefer to have a flexible character on the fly. While hard hitting without puppet, the puppets will allow for remote control of the stage, combo extensions, and tech reads.
- Pros: Essentially gets a second character on the screen as an ally. Lots of multi-hit moves that can confirm into combos, between her puppet and her projectile. Highly rewarding playstyle that demands a skilled understanding of the moveset. Oppressive ground game, keeping the enemy player locked down for massive damage. Great for big brain players, fans of puppet or stance change archetype characters.
- Cons: Recovery plummets once puppet is out, requires careful dismissal of the puppet and understanding of her resources. Slower movement and attack speeds to compensate for her abilities. You may get blown up if you’re a masher bro ngl
Concepts for Alternate Costumes
Controlling the sporeling requires inputting strongs and specials. Easy enough? Not quite. Amanita’s commands will take place of her own strongs and some specials, meaning the sporeling acts to your button presses instead. While the sporeling’s strongs replace all of Amanita’s, only nspecial and fspecial are replaced with regards to specials. The puppet can be dismissed with A+B (attack and special pressed together) or DSPECIAL + PARRY and is necessary for quick decision making on the Amanita player’s behalf. The sporeling has a health percentage, if this reaches zero, it will be defeated. Sporeling summon will be put on cooldown after this is done. You can wavedash into sporeling to throw it forwards or backwards!
Alongside her sporelings, Amanita will activate an aura around her as spore attacks are hit. This requires four hits of spore attacks and deals damage over time to those within it, encouraging her grounded lockdown playstyle, as one good tech read combo can lead into massive burst damage. If the sporeling is not already summoned, she will transfer her existing aura to the sporeling instead when it is summoned. Auras depletes over time and can be depleted and dismissed by hitting the appropriate aura holder.

NEUTRAL SPECIAL – FUNGAL SEED
A projectile that plants itself before priming for an explosion. Can be charged to increase detonation delay. Once detonated, the projectile explodes into three blasts. Can be automatically detonated with down tilt or aerial forward special.
Sporeling: If sporeling is out, it will instead perform this move. it can not be charged.
FORWARD SPECIAL – SPORE CHOKE
Amanita will dash forward, catching the enemy in her hands, before causing a spore explosion in place. This move is set up for hard knockdowns, allowing for tech chases! The aerial version will slam the enemy down.
Sporeling: If sporeling is out, it will instead perform a leaping command grab, if this hits, the sporeling will ALWAYS spit the enemy out in Amanita’s direction. Useful to extend combos and reposition the sporeling!
DOWN SPECIAL – SPORELING SUMMON
Summons the sporeling to your command. Can be held down to increase the range of your summon. Use this to surprise foes as the emerging sporeling counts as an attack! The aerial version has Amanita throwing a fungal blade downward, summoning the sporeling in the position it lands in.
Sporeling: If sporeling is out, it will be recalled by Amanita. She can also hold his command down to increase the range from her position, in the exact same way as the initial summon. Press A+B or DSPECIAL + PARRY to dismiss the sporeling.
UP SPECIAL – SPORECAP GLIDE/WITCH SPIRAL
A spinning and rising spore attack.
Sporeling: If the sporeling has not been summoned, this attack will end in Amanita hanging on to a newly summoned sporeling. From this position, she can leap off with jump or attack as normal. If you want the normal uspecial, without hanging on the sporeling, you can hold parry to cancel the summon!
MOVES OF NOTE
Down tilt – Can activate projectiles deployed by nspecial, and it’s tipper will send inwards
A+B /Dspecial + Parry – Dismiss sporelings
Dash Attack – Turns amanita around and sends the opponent this way
Up tilt – three hit spore attack, useful for unlocking spore aura or trapping the enemy for combos
Wavedash – You can wavedash into a sporeling to throw it. Hold a direction (backwards or forwards) to throw in that direction.
Uspecial – If you don’t want to summon sporeling, you can hold parry to prevent it from spawning.
Sporeling up strong and forward strong – the longer you hold these attacks, the farther they’ll go!
