More Construction Variety
-Added a new PM categories to keep using bricks after switching to concrete
-Slightly buffed a few existing PM
-Removed Brick Factory localisation requirements (clay is found worldwide & making it restricted to state rivers traits was annoying & not bringing much gameplay benefits)
-Added @dictator_life global history to automate clay/limestone/stone placement & PMs
-Added @dictator_life Russian localisation
-Fixed the bug with "Artisan Tools" Missing
More Construction Variety is a lightweight mod that modifies the Construction sector and adds more good to make construction more interesting in Victoria 3.
- Bricks and Stones are both intermediate building materials that are available in large quantities and allows for great mid game construction. Even when concrete is available, stone and bricks can scale up quite well in production, making them still viable even in the late game. Bricks Factories can be built where clay can be found in states with either a good soil trait or a river trait. Stone can be found in any state with mountains state traits or mineral resources.
- Asbestos is a great roofing and insulation material, and is available in large quantities anywhere there are mountains state traits or mineral resources. It is the cheapest construction good per construction points, however, using asbestos in productions methods increases the local state mortality where the construction sectors are located.
- Limestone is a mineral available anywhere you can find clay or stone, and is completely useless on its own. However, it can be transformed into cement, which will be the fuel of your lategame construction sector.
- Cement, is the best material to build with, but requires quite an investment as it requires both building Cement Factories (heavy industry) and Limestone Quarries. However, the cement producion just keeps growing forever provided there is a demand.
Thanks to using a large variety of PMs, your constructions sectors will use a large variety of goods, allowing you more flexibility in your strategy and making your economy more robust from changes. No more steel imports? Simply go back to regular concrete pouring, jet fuel can’t melt steel beams if there are no steel beams in your buildings in the first place.
The Construction Sector base PMs have been divided into 5 PMs:
- Building Materials: Start with timber building and slowly transition towards concrete buildings, while using stone and bricks as cheap intermediate construction goods during economic development
- Building Methods: Slowly increase your tool consumption to increase your construction and replace unskilled laborers with skilled technicians and engineers. In the lategame, you can use electricity & explosives or engines & oil to increase your production, or you can use both if you are wealthy enough to reach unprecendented construction speeds.
- Roofing: while transitioning from a main building material to another, soften the transition by either creating demands for future materials or by reusing materials no longer used by the main production method. Use up your excess lead as a cheap roofing material, or use asbestos, the cheapest construction material there is.
- Insulation: altough insulating materials are not as strong as other construction methods, they are a nice way to boost construction by using goods that you might have in excess in the lategame, such as paper or fabric. And let’s not forget everyone’s favorite insulation material, asbestos, which is cheap, lightweight, and fire resistant! Although some of your population might fall sick, worry not, the large scale consequences of your massive asbestos use will happen after the game’s timeframe ^^
- Scaffolding: As you move towards more modern construction methods, scaffolds are needed to prevent excess worker’s mortality, but they also do give a small construction boost. But you can always let your workers die if you cannot afford scaffolds, after all, they can’t become radicals if they are dead.
This mods should be compatible with everything in theory. This time, I found a way to geographically restrict where you can extract stone/bricks/limestone without touching the states regions, which means you can use this mod alongside any mod that changes the vanilla state regions.
