Gema – The Abyss Apprentice

Gema gameplay focuses around her management of the abyss

-She can summon Abel, her companion to enhance many of her moves

-Use NSpecial on the ground to acquire an abyss charge, you can have up to 4 charges on you

-Jab gets access to an attack flurry, all your tilts, Bair and Dair get enhanced range, Dash attack, Fair, Uair and Dair get an extra attack if you land a hit or have abyss enabled

-You can place your abyss charge on stage or mark your opponent with Fspecial, standing in its range will give you said enhanced attacks, you can have up to 3 objects at once on stage

-Having at least 2 charges or in range of your object / marked opponent enables Strong attacks and Air strong attacks, object and opponent marks only require 1 to enable them, it will consume them

-Using NSpecial in the air will give you a free flight state for a short time, use it wisely

-Dspecial will detonate your object or player mark with a 3 hit burst, or hold down the attack for a powerful explossion, hit them when they don’t expect them for a kill or extend your combos

Planning ahead for an all-out combo is key for success, she is a high risk-reward character, whiffing your strong attacks can leave you vulnerable until you re-stock and have no set-ups on stage, abuse your air mobility to escape or approach and catch them off-guard

Born from a wealthy family in the town of Godai Delta, Gema, a brilliant scholar stumbled upon a mysterious book one day, written in ancient runes, captivated by its intrigue, she started studying it in secret.
When she grew confident enough on her knowledge and skills about it, she attempted a spell, unknowingly opening a gate to something ominous, from it, a little purple one-eyed creature spawned whom she decided to keep and study further
They became close together and a symbiotic relationship was bonded, but above all, the creature, now named Abel, became her best and only friend.
Years passed, and one fateful day, strolling around town, an encounter with a mysterious thief would seal both their destinies.

Her secret was out, the news spreading around town
Something that should’ve not been tampered with, under a spoiled kid’s grasp…
Suddenly, all the misfortune of the townsfolk would be blamed on her
And they would not take it anymore

As the night fell, cornered, at the top of the clock tower, engulfed in flames,
Her family and mentor captured and threaten
Her studies becoming ashes

One hesitant move…

And she feel down from the tower
Hurt, scared, unable to fly…
She could do nothing but scream
To yell at the top of her lungs as tears ran down her face
"Leave us alone!"

Suddenly
The ground shook
A purple aura surrounding her
And a strange light emanating from the very center of the town
Purple masses began manifesting all around town, traping everyone at its reach
As the town began sinking in the sea that surrounded it

As the sun rose on the horizon, and the first rays of light reached her face, Gema woke up
At the top of a barren cliff and nothing but sea around her and a couple of rocks sticking out of it
Godai Delta was gone

Years have passed and she settled in a town near the Archai Mountains, she roams the aether often, researching tirelessly for a way to fix everything
With her companion by her side, and ghosts of the past chasing her, this, is Gema, the Abyss Apprentice
