X – Corrections for Research
The mod makes small changes to some research of the base game and modifications.
Often research from different mods, which logically should be interconnected, do not overlap in any way. I play with a lot of the Vanilla Expanded series mods and this has often caught my eye. Also, the cost of a particular research is sometimes questionable. I gradually wrote patches until I had enough of them for a small mod.
Vanilla game:
The cost of research required to build a ship has been increased (2.5 times on average).
Vanilla Books Expanded:
Researching a table with a typewriter that runs on electricity now requires prior research on electricity (sudden, right?).
Vanilla Brewing Expanded – Coffees and Teas:
Exploring the Espresso machine will also require prior exploration of electricity.
Vanilla Factions Expanded – Tribals + Windows:
Simple windows from "Windows" now require the "building" technology from Vanilla Factions Expanded – Tribals (it was pretty weird when savages who couldn’t even build walls could build windows).
Vanilla Weapons Expanded:
Studying firearms requires prior study of gunpowder.
The cannon from "Vanilla Factions Expanded – Pirates" also requires gunpowder.
And the artisanal weapons from "Vanilla Weapons Expanded – Makeshift" require gunpowder.
To learn the heavy crossbows from "Vanilla Factions Expanded – Medieval" you must first learn the regular crossbows from "Vanilla Weapons Expanded".
If you are running my other mod "X – Sophisticated Mechtech Research" the following patch will activate:
Xenogenetics research will require microelectronics instead of electricity, also raised its cost to 2000. Gene Processor research will require a multi-analyzer, the cost is also increased to 4000. The study of archogenetics costs 6000.
(These edits may be controversial on their own, but fit well with "X – Sophisticated Mechtech Research", so are only available if it is available).
In addition, changes are made to the coordinates (on the technology panel) of some researches. These edits will be useful for those who do not use "ResearchPal" (I could not get used to it, I find it terribly inconvenient to use) and prefer the ugly, but convenient standard tab with research.
If you have the "Vanilla Factions Expanded – Pirates" and "Vanilla Factions Expanded – Mechanoids" mods installed at the same time, you understand why you need such a patch))))))
My mod fixes all the mess in the research tab of "Vanilla Expanded" (it feels like the authors of "Vanilla Expanded" don’t play with their own mods, since it’s all still not fixed).
The mod only makes the changes that are required. You can put even on a vanilla game, there should be no errors. Safe to install or uninstall at any time.
