Description:

"A bipedal, human-like creature with a number of fishy features. Ikquans possess a natural aptitude for swimming and are just as intelligent as humans, allowing them to integrate with human societies in some areas of the galaxy."

Ikquans are a playable race of anthropomorphized fish created using the Humanoid Alien Races 2.0 framework. Beyond their physical appearance, they have been designed with only modest differences from Human pawns, so they can be added to a standard colony without the player having to make significant accommodations.

Safe to add to existing saves, but not to remove.

Requirements (load BEFORE Ikquan Race)):

Humanoid Alien Races 2.0
– (Optional) [1.0] SwimmingKit – No longer required, but Ikquans will swim the same as humans without it, so still recommended.

Features:

– Ikquans have many tail shapes, tail patterns, heads, dorsal fins, and colors inspired by real fish. These can all mix and match, and when combined with the five vanilla body types, Ikquans have over 200,000 possible appearance combinations!
– Starting pawns, wanderers, refugees, and slaves will be replaced with Ikquans about 15% of the time.
– Ikquans will appear in raids, settlements, and trade caravans of other factions as well.
– (3/3/19 update) Medieval Times support: If Medieval Times is installed, Ikquans will appear in raids, traders, and settlements of that mod’s factions.

Racial Stats:

– Ikquans move through water nearly as fast as they can on land. (3/24/19 update) SwimmingKit is no longer a hard requirement, but Ikquans will lose this bonus if SwimmingKit is not enabled.
– The "Soaking Wet" thought gives Ikquans a slight mood bonus instead of a penalty, and they remember it for twice as long.
– Ikquans will never be Pyromaniacs.
– Ikquans are a tad voracious: they eat 20% faster than humans, but also get hungry 10% more often.
– Ikquan bodies have a tail and dorsal fin. They can whip enemies with their tail in combat, but this is equivalent to a punch; both parts are essentially cosmetic.

Questions You May Have:

Is this mod compatible with [other mod]?
– More than likely. Alien race mods should never conflict with anything, hypothetically. Worst case scenario: I’ve patched some new entries into the base game’s PawnGroupMakers, so if a mod were to heavily modify or remove those, I’m not sure what would happen.

Can I pick Ikquans with Prepare Carefully?
– Yes, but with some limitations. Click the "…" button on the left next to the "Add" button, then scroll through the list until you find any of the Ikquans. Pick one, add it, then adjust to your liking. Prepare Carefully cannot detect head shapes or addon parts (e.g. tails) generated by Humanoid Alien Races, so you can’t change them manually.
