Merrick’s Polycrates (Greece)
Polycrates was the tyrant of Samos, a fierce warrior and an enlightened ruler. He was responsible for the construction of engineering projects that are considered to be before their time, including a large aqueduct dug through a mountain known as the Tunnel of Eupalinos. He also ordered the construction of a fleet of over 100 penteconters, and designed his own ship, the Samaina. He likely pursued raiding and piracy to fund his increasingly large fleet.
Tyrant of the Mediterranean
- +50% Production towards the first District in a city. +30% Production towards Naval units in cities with at least 2 specialty districts.
- Harbors grant +1 Great Admiral point per turn and Aqueducts grant +1 Great Engineer point per turn and these districts prevent their city from being put under siege.
- Gains the Samaina unique unit with Sailing.
Samaina
- Greek Naval Raider, replacing the Galley
- Higher combat strength (35 vs. 30) and higher movement (4 vs. 3).
- When in formation, shares its Movement with all units in the formation.
Enlightened Tyrant
- Likes Civilizations with high Production and Culture. Hates Civilizations on other Continents.
