Court REconciled
This mod reworks the system of holding court (and also a few court events along the way).
In vanilla CK3, this feature works as follows: once every five years you press a button and get three random events from a set list. This approach currently has several problems
1) Events are too specific, breaking the suspense of disbelief when they inevitably repeat;
2) Events are overwhelmingly localized in their effects and aimed at randomly selected characters or places, making them insubstantial;
3) Events are outside of player’s control,
My goal is to deal with all of these problems as follows:
1) Make more generic events, reducing the number of repeats for the particular specific incidents;
2) Make most of the events have major global effects;
3) Allow the player a degree of control over their court.
This is done with the framework below:
– The first event (generic, 3 types per court type) provides a player with 5 choices of scaling modifiers affecting relevant stats. If the player wants, they can repeat the same event next court by paying gold, otherwise they get a new random event with chances of repeating reduced;
– The second event (generic) allows the player to affect the new mechanic – Court Axes. Each type of court (except for tribal) has two scales (think DnD alignment chart?), changed by decisions here, passive drift and some of the actions outside of court;
– The third event is pulled from the old vanilla set.
